Tonight’s the Night. Hanson Needs You.

The School Committee meets TONIGHT at 6:30 PM in the Whitman-Hanson Regional High School Library, and your voice is needed in the room.

After Hanson voters rejected an override, the town now faces the real possibility of $940,000 in additional cuts to essential services. These aren’t just numbers, they affect our services, public safety, and the overall fabric of our community.

This meeting will have serious long-term financial implications for Hanson. If you care about the future of our town, now is the time to show up, speak up, and stay informed.

Please make time to attend. What happens tonight matters.

The next School Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 4 at 6:30 PM at the Whitman-Hanson Regional High School Library. This meeting will cover important topics that carry long term financial implications for the Town of Hanson.

Why this matters now:

The decisions made in the coming months will shape our town’s financial future. Now more than ever, public input is essential.

You spoke loud and clear at the ballot box and now it’s time to keep the momentum going. The Town of Hanson cannot afford to make $940,000 in additional cuts to the budget. These cuts would cripple the town as we know it. Make your voice heard at the upcoming School Committee Meeting on June 4th! Your presence matters now more than ever.

Good afternoon! We’ve got some encouraging news coming out of the State House — it looks like WHRSD is set to receive about $258,675 more in Chapter 70 aid than originally projected for FY2026. After all adjustments, that could translate to roughly a $200,000 increase in our district’s state funding.

While it’s not enough to completely close the budget gap, it’s definitely a step in the right direction for our communities. Every bit helps!

Based on the current WHRSD budget projection, the town of Hanson will be looking at an estimated $1.7M budget shortfall for FY2025. There is not enough money to be trimmed from the other town departments to cover this shortfall. Hanson is looking at the possibility of another override or massive layoffs across town departments unless the operating assessment is reduced.

Your Finance Committee is off and running with the FY2025 Budget cycle. Current budget shortfall is in excess of $1M. We will be posting updates as they become available.
