A Note to Hanson Residents

I attended the recent Town Meeting and shortly after leaving, regretted that I did not ask to speak. It was after communication from a Hanson Library Trustee on Thursday that I felt compelled to reach out to Hanson residents with a goal to clear up any confusion regarding the effect which the proposed Library Expansion will have to the existing Senior Center.

o Will not directly impact the space in which activities and social services are offered at the Senior Center.

o The Senior Center will continue to request the use of the Community Room and any proposed additional community space through the existing reservation process required currently by the library.

o The Library Director wrote the grant according to regulations which are for the planning, designing and building of public libraries. A Senior Center is unable to be included in this grant.

I hope this provides some clarity.

Congratulations to Leah Guercio, our wonderful, sweet, caring, hard-working Program Coordinator. Leah got some well-deserved recognition from Old Colony Elder Services for Excellence in Care. Leah is the spirit of the Center and is a true inspiration.

It was a great night celebrating the birthday of our amazing Leah. Although almost 90 people attended, we managed to keep it a surprise. We are so blessed to have Leah in our lives. She truly is an inspiration.
