Join us Tuesday, September 8th at 6:00pm as Girl Scout Troop 82684 shares their journey toward the Girl Scout Silver Award! The girls will present on the seven Leave No Trace principles, their work cleaning up local trails, and their partnership with Green Hanson and the Hanson Conservation Committee to bring educational signage to Hanson's trails.

There will be a slideshow presentation and real examples from their trail cleanup efforts. Come learn how youth-led conservation work happens right here in our community!

All ages welcome! Best suited for older kids, teens, and adults who care about nature and community service. Sign up at hansonlibrary.org.calendar!

Public Hearing Notice

The Hanson Conservation Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Hanson Town Hall, Select Board’s Meeting Room, 542 LIBERTY STREET, HANSON, MA pursuant to a Notice of Intent for Hasan & Ayshe Prashkov.

Parcel & Project: Request to construct a multifamily development with associated drainage, site grading, septic systems, and utilities within 100 feet of Bordering Vegetated Wetlands, and within 200 feet of Shumatuscacant River located at 808 West Washington Street, Map 66, Lot 7. The applicant is filing under Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, M.G.L. Chapter 131, §40 and the Town of Hanson Wetlands Protection By-Law 3-13, § 5 and Rules and Regulations.

Parcel & Project: Request to make improvements to an existing driveway within 100 feet of bordering vegetated wetlands located at 72 Tavern Waye, Map 101 Lot 101-6A-H. The applicant is filing under Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, M.G.L. Chapter 131, §40 and the Town of Hanson Wetlands Protection By-Law 3-13, § 5 and Rules and Regulations.

Explore South Shore: Enjoy a long walk this weekend at Hanson’s Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area! With more than 10 miles of trails and over 2,000 acres of ponds, marshes, swamps and retired cranberry bogs, there’s a lot to explore! Situated in the watershed of Stump Brook, which is part of the Taunton River system. Large on-site parking area at the Pleasant Street (Hanson) entrance. Limited on-site parking at the Elm Street (Hanson) entrance, and on Elm Street in Halifax.

REGISTER TODAY FOR THE 2026 GREAT RIVER RACE!
Sunday, August 9 @ 9:00 am-1:00 pm
Come join us on Sunday, August 9 to paddle on one of the most beautiful rivers in Massachusetts. This awesome 7.5 mile race starts at Bridge Street Canoe Launch in Norwell and ends at Indian Head Drive in Hanover. Then join us after the race as the fun continues at Ludden’s Ford Park (just a short walk from the takeout). The party will start at 11:00am with awards given around 12:00pm. Awards will be given in each category. There will be FREE food, ice cream, games, and more, plus a FREE beer for those participants over 21 years of age, or FREE kombucha from IndieFerm.
