Thank you to the Hapeville Police Officers who gave these suspects a teaching moment!! Two suspects allegedly involved in a shooting in Atlanta entered Hapeville, ran from officers, and led police on a pursuit that ended in Clayton County with both suspects taken into custody. 👮🏾‍♂️🚔
Lesson learned: Running doesn’t mean you’ll get away! 👀

🚨 PARENTS: KNOW THE BIKE BEFORE YOU BUY IT! 🚨
Parents, we want to share a safety reminder about the E-Bikes, E-Motos, mopeds, and dirt bikes our kids are riding.
Not every bike that looks like an E-Bike is legally considered an E-Bike. Depending on the type, speed, and motor, there may be requirements for age, licensing, registration, helmets, equipment, and where it can legally be ridden. Some are NOT permitted on public roadways or highways.
In just two weeks, our Police Department has stopped and taken four bikes that were being operated unlawfully. We don’t want the next situation to involve a serious injury or crash.
PARENTS, please take a few minutes to:
🔎 Research the exact make and model before purchasing.
🪖 Make sure your child has the proper safety equipment.
🚦 Know where the bike can legally be ridden.
📖 Understand the age and licensing requirements.
🗣️ Have the safety conversation with your child BEFORE they ride.
❤️ We aren’t trying to keep our kids from having fun. We’re trying to keep them safe.
Know what you’re buying. Know where it can be ridden. Know the law. If still confused, visit your local bike shop Kate Rockett for more understanding.

Our Hapeville Officers wanted to have some family fun with our teen mentees just before school start!! So we did a 70’s theme skateparty. It was a lot of smiling, laughing, falling, and building trust. Thank you “Skate towne College Park” for allowing us to rent out the rink, and for helping to sponsor this fun event. Hapeville Guardians Teen Mentorship program is the best.

Officers attended Hapeville Elementary’s Open house this morning. It was a pleasure to welcome students back and ensure parents HPD will consistently be involved and show up at our schools.

🚸 School is back in session next week! Slow down!! School zone speed cameras are back. Don’t be a violator. Help keep our children safe by obeying the speed limit. Every mile per hour matters. 🚌❤️
