Dear friends and family, this will be a hard post to read.
We want you to know that Anthony Bolante, loving son, husband, father and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, at 13:30, on a sunny spring day in Seattle. He was surrounded by loved ones and in no pain.
Any of you who knew him know how much love he shared during his 58 years. He loved his family fiercely, which included not just his immediate loved ones, but a wide circle of friends — Anthony’s 'Ohana.
Wherever he went, with his billion dollar smile and joyful greetings, he spread love and connection. In turn, he was profoundly loved right back. That was obvious over the last week.
The estimate that around 200 people passed through his room at Swedish Cherry Hill is probably not far off. A steady stream of people came to see Antman — in a room with a typical limit of two visitors. People came from all over the Pacific Northwest, California, Hawaii and other far-flung places. It was as if he was holding court with all of those that he impacted in the many communities he built around himself.
The medical team at Swedish has been professional, thoughtful, compassionate and caring — at one point there were 22 people in Anthony’s room and they politely asked us not to spill into the hallway.
It will take a long time to begin to grasp what his loss means to all of us, but for now, let’s focus on surrounding his family with love.
We will continue to share concrete ways to do that and, eventually, plans for a gathering to honor his life.
