Harbor Beach Area District Library The Harbor Beach Area District Library and Community House The gym is also available for individuals to rent at the low cost of $10 per hour.

The Library offers books, audiobooks on CD, downloadable audiobooks, downloadable ebooks, magazines, music CDs, movies on DVD and more! We have computers available for your use or you can bring in your own laptop and connect to the internet via our wifi.

The Community House is usually open from 7

:00am until 9:00am Monday-Friday during the school year. The Community House meeting rooms are available at no charge to non-profit groups and for a small hourly rental fee to individuals or other groups. Call the library phone number (989-479-3417) to check availability and reserve your time.

The Library also has tables and chairs available for rent. Call the library at 989-479-3417 to check availability and reserve tables and/or chairs. Table rental is $5 per table - Chairs are .25 per chair - plus a $20 deposit that is returned when the items are returned timely and undamaged.

Tuesday marked the closing of our Summer Reading Program for 2026. We had some leftover activities from the summer, so the kids got to have a little more fun with the Dino Eggs and Shrinky D***s. On top of these activities, they children also took home a book each and received a free movie ticket for the Harbor Beach Community Theatre.

We had an amazing summer with the children with over 13,000 minutes read between 70 children/teens, and are looking forward to next years reading program with the children!

Our top readers this year received a $30 gift certificate to the Theatre as well. These individuals are as follows:
Pre-K's top reader was Everett Q with 1,527 minutes
Kids top reader was Emory Q with 1, 297 minutes
Teen top reader was Sydney R with 1,080 minutes

Thank you to all the parents and caregivers who got the children to the activities. As always it has been a fun and exciting summer, though way to short.

With the close of Summer Reading we are gearing up towards our 6th Annual Halloween Party! We will see you on October 24th this year for a vintage Halloween celebration!

Not sure if anyone can tell us where the summer is going, but suddenly we are at the last week of this years Summer Reading program. The children got to enjoy their own fossil/gemstone dig, cracked open dinosaur eggs to reveal a surprise Dino, created 3D keychains, made shrinky d**k keychains, and even got to escape the Prehistoric World.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to a close. With that, next Tuesday, July 28 at 2 p.m. will be our closing party, our readers and participants are welcome to join us in the common room.

Special thanks go out to Toys In Box from Massachusetts for joining us this year and presenting on 3D printing. The children had a fun time making their nametag keychains and I have heard how much fun they had since the program.

Also, special thanks go to the owners of Twin Bears Wooded Campground from the crazy librarians, for helping source our fossils and gem stones for our opening activity. Thank you for helping to support our Summer Reading program.
