Exploring the quiet corners of northern Michigan… from the Tunnel of Trees and M-119 to the lakes, small towns, and coastlines that make this region unforgettable. M-119, also known as the Tunnel of Trees, is a scenic drive in Harbor Springs, Michigan that runs along the coastline of Lake Michigan. The road is lined with trees that form a canopy overhead, giving the impression of driving through a

tunnel. To get to M-119 from Harbor Springs, head north on US-31. Turn left onto Lake Shore Dr/M-119 and continue to follow M-119. The Tunnel of Trees is on the left. Please note that the Tunnel of Trees is a two-lane road and can be busy during peak tourist season, so drive carefully and enjoy the scenery.

If you’re heading toward Harbor Springs and the Tunnel of Trees, Spring Lake Park is worth a stop.

Located right along M-119 as you make your way toward Harbor Springs, the park has recently received some great improvements, including a fully remodeled pavilion and restrooms, new sidewalks, and additional parking.

It’s a beautiful, peaceful place to stretch your legs, enjoy the water views, have a picnic, or just slow down for a few minutes before continuing your drive.

Definitely add Spring Lake Park to your next trip along M-119.

A few weeks ago, the Lucky Paw Foundation brought the community together at True North Golf Club near the Tunnel of Trees for a wonderful event supporting an important cause.

We wanted to take a moment to recognize everyone who participated, volunteered, donated, sponsored, or helped make the event possible. It’s another great example of the generosity and community spirit that makes this part of Northern Michigan so special.

Congratulations to the Lucky Paw Foundation, True North Golf Club, and everyone involved in making the event such a success.

Our friends just down the road in Brutus have some good news. They tried retirement, but apparently Northern Michigan had other plans.

They’re opening back up for the season and looking for a little help to make sure the donuts keep coming.

They’re hiring:
• 2 donut makers
• 2 cashiers
• Apple pickers

Stop by this Saturday, August 22, from 10 AM–1:30 PM to learn more.

The season is only eight weekends, pay is $18–$20 per hour, and applicants must be 16 or older.

A great opportunity to make some extra money this fall while helping out a nearby Northern Michigan business.

And most importantly, keeping those donuts coming.

Make a “Michigan Left”

We have had 2 major accidents this week at the Culver’s next to the M-119 intersection in Petoskey. Accidents have been an ongoing problem here for years and summer time is the worst. So, please be mindful of traffic and do a Michigan Left if there is heavy traffic.

Pass Culver’s → turn into D&W → use the parking lot to reach the traffic light → turn back onto the highway in the opposite direction → approach Culver’s again → make a simple right turn into Culver’s.

Be safe out there!
