The Emmet County Road Commission was established in 1909 and is overseen by a three member board of commissioners. The 43 employees of the Road Commission are responsible for a total of 1,050 miles of roadway which consists of 217 miles of state trunk lines, 244 miles of primary roads, and 589 miles of local roads.

🚧 Closed Roads Are Closed for Your Safety 🚧

Please do not go around barricades or “Road Closed” signs. Do not move barricades, cones, or any other traffic control devices.

Do not enter closed areas to investigate. Additional traffic in these areas can further affect or compromise already damaged roads, causing further damage which can lead to longer road closures.

These closures are in place for a reason. Even if a road appears safe, there may be underlying damage or unsafe conditions that are not visible.

Ignoring these warnings can put you and others at serious risk.

The following road sections are currently closed. Please seek an alternate route. This list will be updated as conditions change.

- M119: between Division Rd & Island View Drive (4872-5089)
- M119: between Stutsmanville Rd & Terpening Rd
- Channel Rd: Over Minnehaha Creek - Expect one-lane traffic
- Lower Shore Dr: between Windemere Dr & S. Lake Shore Dr

Residents on Lower Shore Drive can reach their homes via the northern section of Lower Shore Drive, accessed from M-119.

Barricades and road closure signs are there for your safety, please respect them.
