Good Morning! β˜€

🌱Master Composter planning is under way! This is for anyone who is interested in learning more about composting - regardless of any previous experience you have. We'd love to have newbies and also those that have been composting forever, but are ready to learn a new strategy or have more information.

We will have 12 hours of education - some classroom learning, but mostly field trips and hands on experiences. We realize you can't make it to every single class, but that's okay! We'll work with you on any sessions you miss.
10 volunteer hours are also required for certification, which we will help you to achieve.

But first, we need to know what you're thinking - take our survey! Let us know.

Then share with your friends!

Take this survey powered by surveymonkey.com. Create your own surveys for free.

Last call to come see us at the fair 🎑We'll be there 12 - 5 PM

We are working on upcycling animal feed bags into reusable totes, giving away flood vouchers, raffling off a curbside tote + lid, as well as a kitchen caddy for food scraps!

Do you know what's happening this week?
The Emmet-Charlevoix County Fair! 🎑
We'll be there!
Tuesday through Friday, 12 - 5 PM near the barns πŸ–πŸ“πŸ„
What's happening under the green tent?
Welp, LET πŸ‘ ME πŸ‘ TELLπŸ‘ YOU!πŸ‘

So many things:
Master Recycler Volunteers are coming together - We are collecting woven animal feed bags (which cannot be recycled) and turning them into reusable totes! πŸ›

We are handing out vouchers to use at the Pleasantview Drop Off Center for Emmet County residents that have been affected by the spring and summer flooding.

We are raffling off a recycling tote and LID (hot commodity) as well as a food scrap caddy for your kitchen.

We have tattoos, we have stickers, we have hats, we have cootie catchers!

And we have the knowledge of a 36 year old STELLAR recycling program that we'd love to share with you.

Come see us! Emmet County Recycling Staff and Volunteers would be delighted to chat with you about all the cool things we can do together. β™»

Seven days of setup, hauling, collecting and sorting at Blissfest Music Organization with 134 determined volunteers and 7 dedicated coordinators equals more than 90 cubic yards of diverted materials + 48,000 returnables! It's a lot of work but SO worth it.

A 4th of July poem:

Do not put them in the bin,
No fireworks should ever go in.

Not the cardboard, not the scraps,
not the plastic bits and caps.

Do not toss them - not today,
please keep those fireworks away.

Not in recycling, not one part,
they can cause a dangerous start.

They could harm our staff and crew,
and damage our equipment too.

Spread the word across the land -
keep fireworks out of the recycling can!

If you're wondering what to do,
our safe disposal page will help you.
