EFFECTIVE TONIGHT (THURSDAY, APRIL 9TH AT 11:59 PM)

HPD Dispatch, which has been contracted to 911iNet in Alabama will no longer be providing dispatch services to HPD.

An agreement has been made, and all dispatch services will be handled again by BHC Dispatch. The phone number 406-665-7900 will continue to work for the next couple of months, but will be forwarded to BHC Dispatch (406-665-9780). If you have an emergency, please dial 911. If you don't have an emergency, please dial 665-9780 and an HPD officer will be dispatched within the City Limits.

We thank Javier and his team at 911iNet for providing dispatch services to our community and HPD during our time of need over the past few years! We look forward to a healthy relationship with BHC Dispatch.

TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT!

Your HPD Easter Bunnies will be out laying eggs at the City residences that signed up. Please make sure your dogs are inside between 6P-9P, your gates are unlocked, your little ones aren’t peeking out the windows!

We will be moving about in the dark, so we apologize in advance if we startle you, but PLEASE make sure you don’t come outside with anything that could hurt the Easter Bunnies!

Happy Easter!

Good morning, Hardin! ☀️

Please take a moment to review the attached letter from your Hardin Police Department, outlining last year’s crime statistics and providing an overall update on the state of the department. Transparency and accountability remain top priorities, and we are proud to share this information with our community.

We also encourage you to check out the **SafeWise Safest Cities in Montana for 2026** report. According to SafeWise, Montana continues to see communities working proactively to improve public safety — and we’re committed to ensuring Hardin remains a place where families feel safe to live, work, and visit.

As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership in keeping our community strong. 💙

This past Tuesday, Hardin Police Department officers assisted the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Indian Affairs with a fast-moving brush fire on E. 3rd Street. The fire was spreading quickly and began threatening nearby homes.

Today, a citizen shared this photo with me of Ofc. Stafford and Hanser’s Wrecker staff helping panicked homeowners dig a fire line to protect their property. His quick action and willingness to step in made a difference in a critical moment, despite this call being outside of City limits.

On Wednesday, while patrolling the City, our Police Service Aide observed a residential structure fire. HPD units responded immediately, alongside local fire personnel, to assist where needed until the scene was stabilized.

Some may say fighting fires isn’t in our wheelhouse — but we believe if we can help, we will.

I am proud of our staff for going above and beyond, remaining visible in our community, and stepping up wherever assistance is needed. Whether you live inside the City limits or outside of them, if we are able to help, rest assured we will — without having to be asked.

Outstanding work, Ofc. Stafford and PSA Martinez.

🚨🌹 Valentine’s Day Reminder from HPD 🌹🚨

Gentlemen of Hardin… this is your official notice.

Failure to purchase flowers and/or chocolates may result in:
• Sleeping on the couch
• The silent treatment
• Or “I’m fine.” (She is not fine.)

While we can’t issue citations for forgetting Valentine’s Day… we can strongly encourage compliance. 💐🍫

So consider this your friendly reminder to:
✔️ Grab those flowers
✔️ Pick up the chocolates
✔️ Maybe throw in a handwritten card for good measure

Trust us — the only thing worse than blue lights in your rearview mirror… is realizing at 8:47 PM that the store is closed. 😬

Stay safe, drive smart, and keep the romance alive, Hardin.
