At Air Evac Lifeteam, we respond when you need us, membership or not. Our crews are dispatched based solely on medical necessity.

We are proud to offer a membership program as an added layer of financial protection for the families in the communities we serve. An Air Evac Lifeteam membership helps protect members from out-of-pocket expenses when transported by an AirMedCare Network provider.

We sincerely hope you never need our services. But if you ever do, simply let our team know you’re a member and focus on what matters most: your health and your loved ones.

We also encourage everyone to take a moment to educate themselves on what options are available in their area and to seek clarity if they come across information that may be incomplete or misleading. Understanding your choices ahead of time allows you to make informed decisions for your family.

Celebrating EMS Week means recognizing those that make a difference in all the areas they touch. Whether it’s delivering care at bedside, in the aircraft, helping to mentor others or sharing knowledge with the community, we hope all EMS providers strive to do more and be more. We thank Michelle for her service and dedication, as well as all the other EMS providers who don the uniform in their communities.

For Michelle Story, EMS is more than a career. It’s personal. Serving the same community that she’s called home for more than a decade, Michelle finds purpose in being there for people on their hardest days. She also revels in the trust she’s built with her team, as the base clinical lead nurse for Air Evac Lifeteam 88 - Harlan, KY.

Her positive outlook and eagerness are not limited to any one EMS professional, and those who embody these traits are truly blessings worth recognizing this EMS Week.

We often refer to pediatric emergencies as HALO transports — High Acuity, Low Occurrence patients. These are the calls a clinician may encounter only a few times each year, yet they demand extraordinary attention to detail, clinical expertise, and compassion.

These patients are critically ill, and caring for them affects us deeply. We are moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. We are human, too. In moments of crisis, we are called upon without hesitation to help transport these precious children to the specialized care they need.

Success in these situations requires constant training, refined skills, and unwavering teamwork to ensure the safe and effective care our patients deserve.

Today, multiple flight crews from across Central and Eastern Kentucky came together for a dedicated day of pediatric critical care education and training. Thank you to all of the instructors and flight crews who recognized the importance of focusing on this unique patient population and collaborated to create a meaningful and valuable learning opportunity.

Your commitment to excellence, preparedness, and compassionate care makes a difference when it matters most.
