Shelby County Residents:

The time is here for me to run for re-election for Shelby County Recorder. I have enjoyed serving you the past 3½ years! Thank you for all of your support! Absentee voting is underway and there is a new Electronic Voting method that is so easy to use. If you haven’t voted already I suggest you give it a try. You will never want to go back to paper/pen method again! You may vote absentee until June 4th. Primary Election is June 5th! We will be calling in the next couple of days to ask if some of you would be willing to put a sign in your yard now and again in late October or first part of November before the General Election November 6th. If you happen to have one (or more) of my signs and would like to put them out, that is great! I know some of you kept the signs for this reason and I thank you so much! Again, I am honored to be serving as your Shelby County Recorder and am appreciative of your vote!

UPDATE ON BIRTH CERTIFICATES:
Today we received a notice that beginning next week, February 27th, we will be able to exchange any birth certificates of children born in any county in Iowa from 1995 to present. If you have any questions feel free to give us a call at 755-5640.

As 2017 begins, I have been looking back over the last two years as Shelby County Recorder. I am so thankful to be the Recorder and enjoy going to work each day. I have two new employees, Keri Ranney and Tammy Haake. They are doing a fantastic job and will greet you with a smile. We all enjoy working and being of service to you.

I wanted to make you aware of a service we are able to offer you. You may have heard some info in the news surrounding birth certificates from 1993 to 2009 that are small in size and blue and pink in color. The Iowa Department of Public Health has found the information on these birth certificates is very limited, and sometimes are not accepted for drivers license or passport purposes. If you or your children have one of these, and were born in Shelby County, you may bring those into our office and we will exchange it for a new certified copy free of charge. We are also to exchange them for anyone who was born in any county of Iowa from 1993 to present. There is no hurry to do this as long as you are not getting a drivers license or passport.

Attached is a link to a press release from IDPH which states you may get them from the State as well. This route may take 6-8 weeks. Either way will work fine, I just wanted to give you the option to come to our office for convenience.

If you have questions give us a call at 755-5640. Once again, thank you for allowing me to serve you as Shelby County Recorder.
