Good Morning! Just a reminder that City Offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Garbage and Recycle Service will be on a one day delay for the week. Have a great weekend and Labor Day holiday!

We received word this afternoon that the contractor may be in the area starting on Monday, August 31, 2026 working on the patching portion of the project. Thank you!

SHADY GROVE SUBDIVISION PAVING IMPROVEMENTS NOTIFICATION:

The City of Harlem, in cooperation with Southern Asphalt LLC wishes to inform the driving public of intermittent temporary lane closures on S. Fairview Drive, S. Fairview Court, Shady Grove Drive, Shady Grove Court, and Shady Lane. Due to road construction activities, the lane closures will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., starting on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 thru Tuesday, September 22, 2026 weather permitting. Please make sure that all vehicles and/or equipment are not parked/left in the roadways during this time.

Please be sure to slow down when approaching the work zone, watch for warning signs, obey flaggers, and be aware of your surroundings when in this area. Allow for some additional time for commuting when in this area during the times listed.

We understand that the project will start with the smaller sections and will finish with S. Fairview Drive out to the entrance at U.S. Highway 78. This is a patch and overlay project. We will update with any changes on dates and times if and when they may occur.

We want to send out a big Thank You to all that made tonight's event possible: David Daughtry and Friends with special guest Terri Gibbs, Craig Butler and Southern Star Pyrotechnics, and the Sponsor's who support our City and all it has: Main Street Treats, DeFoor Realty, Coleman Services, Whitaker Electric, the Harlem Merchant's Association, Al Reeves & Family, and the Nelson Law Group. To the food vendors in attendance, Thank You! And Thank You to our Code Enforcement, Public Works, Police Department and Fire Department personnel who were involved with set up, clean up, and the safety for all in attendance. And to those in attendance, residents and visitors alike, we hope everyone enjoyed the evening!
