Southbound I-69E in the Sebastian area is currently closed due to a major traffic accident. Texas DPS is on scene investigating the crash with assistance from Cameron County Constable PCT. 5 and Willacy County units providing traffic control.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area, expect delays, and use alternate routes until the roadway is reopened. Please use caution and watch for emergency personnel working the scene.

They may use threats, fake case numbers, links, or QR codes to pressure people into paying quickly.

🚨 Burn Ban in Effect – Cameron County 🚨

Due to current weather and ground conditions, Cameron County has issued a Burn Ban effective immediately.

Residents are prohibited from burning leaves, grass, brush, or other ground debris. The ban may remain in effect for up to 90 days unless lifted earlier.

⚠️ Violations may result in a Class C misdemeanor and fines up to $500, and individuals may be liable for any property damage caused by an out-of-control fire.

For questions, contact the Cameron County Emergency Management & Fire Marshal’s Office at (956) 547-7000.

Please help keep Cameron County safe by avoiding outdoor burning.
