Students worked together to answer โ€œspiraledโ€ math questions covering concepts they have learned throughout the entire year.

Each team not only had to solve the problem but also explain their thinking and reasoning behind their answers. ๐Ÿง โœ๏ธ The team with the highest score earned the chance to pick a prize!

Students in Mrs. Fosterโ€™s 7th grade reading class participated in a mock trial today based on the novel *The Outsiders*. Students took on the roles of prosecutors, defense attorneys, characters and jurors as they examined whether Johnny was innocent or guilty. Using text evidence from the novel, students built their cases, questioned arguments, and defended their positions.

The student jury listened carefully to both sides before making their decision. It was a great way to bring the novel to life while encouraging critical thinking, collaboration, and deeper analysis of the text. An excellent example of taking reading to the next level in the classroom! ๐Ÿ“šโš–๏ธ

Last weekend, several of our MVMS Panthers participated in Rolling for Stewart, a bowling tournament benefiting the Harlingen Area Educational Foundation.

These students purchased a lane and bowled in the tournament:

This past weekend, ๐˜พ๐™๐™ง๐™ž๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ฅ๐™๐™š๐™ง ๐˜พ๐™ช๐™ง๐™ง๐™ฎ (8๐™ฉ๐™ ๐™œ๐™ง๐™–๐™™๐™š), ๐™€๐™ข๐™ž๐™ก๐™ž๐™ค ๐™•๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™œ๐™– (7๐™ฉ๐™ ๐™œ๐™ง๐™–๐™™๐™š), ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™€๐™ข๐™ž๐™ก๐™ฎ ๐™•๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™œ๐™– (6๐™ฉ๐™ ๐™œ๐™ง๐™–๐™™๐™š) traveled to ๐™Ž๐™–๐™ฃ ๐˜ผ๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ค, ๐™๐™š๐™ญ๐™–๐™จ to compete at the ๐™๐™š๐™ญ๐™–๐™จ ๐™Ž๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š ๐™†๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™œ๐™๐™ฉ๐™จ ๐™ค๐™› ๐˜พ๐™ค๐™ก๐™ช๐™ข๐™—๐™ช๐™จ ๐™๐™ง๐™š๐™š ๐™๐™๐™ง๐™ค๐™ฌ ๐˜พ๐™๐™–๐™ข๐™ฅ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™จ๐™๐™ž๐™ฅ. All three students did an amazing job representing ๐™ƒ๐™–๐™ง๐™ก๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™š๐™ฃ ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™ˆ๐™ค๐™ž๐™จ๐™š๐™จ ๐™‘. ๐™‘๐™š๐™ก๐™– ๐™ˆ๐™ž๐™™๐™™๐™ก๐™š ๐™Ž๐™˜๐™๐™ค๐™ค๐™ก, competing against some of the best free throw shooters from across the great state of Texas.

What followed was nothing short of incredible.

๐Ÿฅ‰ ๐˜พ๐™๐™ง๐™ž๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ฅ๐™๐™š๐™ง ๐˜พ๐™ช๐™ง๐™ง๐™ฎ battled through an intense competition that required ๐™ฉ๐™๐™ง๐™š๐™š ๐™จ๐™š๐™ฅ๐™–๐™ง๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š ๐™จ๐™๐™ค๐™ค๐™ฉ-๐™ค๐™ช๐™ฉ๐™จ just to determine 2nd place. After an exciting finish that came down to the wire, Chris earned an ๐™ค๐™ช๐™ฉ๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ 3๐™ง๐™™ ๐™‹๐™ก๐™–๐™˜๐™š ๐™ž๐™ฃ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ง๐™š ๐™Ž๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š ๐™ค๐™› ๐™๐™š๐™ญ๐™–๐™จ!

๐Ÿฅ‡ ๐™€๐™ข๐™ž๐™ก๐™ž๐™ค ๐™•๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™œ๐™– faced tough competition and delivered an incredible performance, earning ๐Ÿญ๐™จ๐™ฉ ๐™‹๐™ก๐™–๐™˜๐™š and the title of ๐™๐™š๐™ญ๐™–๐™จ ๐™Ž๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š ๐™๐™ง๐™š๐™š ๐™๐™๐™ง๐™ค๐™ฌ ๐˜พ๐™๐™–๐™ข๐™ฅ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ!

๐Ÿ€ ๐™€๐™ข๐™ž๐™ก๐™ฎ ๐™•๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™œ๐™– came out strong in the early rounds and gave it her all throughout the competition. She represented Harlingen proudly in the ๐™œ๐™ž๐™ง๐™ก๐™จ ๐™™๐™ž๐™ซ๐™ž๐™จ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ and competed with determination against some very talented shooters.
