Freeze Protection Methods
Insulate water pipes that are exposed and unprotected. There are different methods of insulating.
Insulate your outdoor water meter box and be sure its lid is on tight.
Let indoor faucets drip. (sink, shower and any other faucets)
Turn off and drain lawn sprinkler systems including backflow device.
Make sure you know where your home’s shut-off valve is and how to turn it on and off.
Protect your outdoor faucets and any water features that can freeze.
If you leave town, consider turning off your water at the shut-off valve while faucets are running to drain your pipes. Make sure you turn the faucets off before you turn the shut-off valve back on.
Backflow Devices need to be insulated and drained if possible.

Aísle la caja del medidor de agua exterior y asegúrese de que la tapa esté bien cerrada.

Update to Publication Boil Water Notice

On 12/02/2025, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Harlingen Waterworks System public water system, TX 0310002 to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of 12/03/2025
