Sam Houston Elementary IB World School is proud to offer the International Baccalaureate- Primary Years Programme to Rio Grande Valley students in grades PK3-5. For the healthy, safety, and security of our Mighty Eagle students:
-Only students and employees may enter the school building during arrival and dismissal times. Your child will be well-monitored by our staff members, and happily assiste
d if they need help getting to their classroom.
-Students being picked up before dismissal must be signed out in the front office no later than 2:30 p.m. Thank you for your help to ensure all students are kept safe!
-To have a conference with your child's teacher, please contact your child's teacher directly to schedule an appointment, or call the front office to schedule an appointment.
-Visiting our campus during the day? Be sure to bring your ID, and come to the front office. For the 2021-2022 School Year:
-School starts at 7:40 a.m. All students should be in the building by this time, ready to learn.
-Our doors open for students at 7:20 a.m. You may drive and drop off curbside at the front drive, or you may park and walk your child up to the West Side Cafeteria doors. The West Side Cafeteria doors close at 7:40 a.m. Any students arriving after 7:40 a.m. must report to the front office doors. Breakfast is served between 7:30 a.m. and 7:40 a.m. (serving time only, students have additional time to enjoy breakfast)
The tardy bell rings at 7:50 a.m. Please see district policy regarding tardies/absences for parts of days. School dismisses at 3:15 p.m.
-The front drive is pick up and drop off for car riders only. The west side cafeteria doors are for pick up and drop off of walkers. For safety, we cannot have pedestrian pick-ups or drop-offs in front of the school. Those who walk to the front door during dismissal for a pickup will be directed to the west side cafeteria doors.
-Students arriving between 7:20 and 7:30 a.m. will report to an assigned waiting area. There is a waiting list for this service, please inquire at the office phone number to be added. Students arriving between 7:30 and 7:40 a.m. will walk directly to their classroom. Monitors and teachers will assist students.
-Breakfast will be in the classroom this year for all grade levels. Lunch will be in the cafeteria for grades PK4-5th, and in the classroom for PK3/ESCE/LS.
