Please feel free to join us this coming Saturday at 2. Something to enjoy while the weather is good. Even in winter we can carry on as long as you are all up to it.

We enjoyed our first Tai Chi session, so we've scheduled another one! We would love for more people to join us on Saturday, June 6th at 2 pm. Let's strengthen our bodies and our community.

Tai Chi this Saturday May 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Pioneer Memorial Public Library.

Let's have some fun while doing gentle exercises. It might be something for us to do throughout the summer. Amanda and Rosemary are looking for more things to keep people coming to our library.

We would love to see you here tomorrow! Mr. Umling will read from his works and visit with you afterward.

"We never stopped to consider how nature might fight back when the pressure became too great and resources were stretched too thin. ... However, nature had resources and weapons of its own that were so tiny and capable of such rapid reproduction that they could slip beneath our prideful arrogance, and in doing so, relevel the playing field. ... Here beginneth the lesson."

Come meet one of our very own West Virginia authors this Saturday at 1.00 pm.

Let's have as any of us as possible have the bragging rights of meeting an author in real life. Not just meeting him but having him read some excerpts from some of his books that he generously donated to our library. We may also get to hear some of the real lived experiences of the author. See you here Saturday. 😁😁

"Post 216: Preserved by the Light"
December 24, 2021
Looking back at all the farm website posts I've written since I began in September 2016, I think I've discussed virtually all the most cherished aspects of our initial retirement life here at Peeper Pond Farm. If there is one element of our life and environment that I have failed to give proper attention to, it would have to be our deep appreciation of the dark, starry sky we enjoy on cloudless nights."

From a small farm in the Appalachian Mountains to a professional life as a city planner, our upcoming speaker tells of a life of diverse experiences.

"I had met and married my wife, Barbara, while working at a regional planning office in Middlebury, Vermont, when I was offered a promotion to senior planner at another regional planning office in Macon, Georgia. ... However, housing was much more affordable in Macon, Georgia, and we were able to buy our first house there. Nearly six months after we moved into the house, our only son, Michael was born. People say that the most stressful, life changing events that we experience are getting married, having our first child, and buying our first home. We did all three in the span of seven months in 1991."

Mr. Umling shares his story of being adopted and searching for his birth family.

"I also continued to monitor the numerous search notices I had posted on various adoptee Internet registries. For the first two weeks, my listings went unanswered. Then on May 31, I found a simple message attached to one of my listings. It read simply:

If you would like some help with this search for Birth parent, please contact me at the e-mail address.

Regards,
Laura"

Join us for a reading by author David Umling on Saturday, May 9th at 1 pm.

"Farm work can be unexpectedly difficult and unpleasant. It tries your determination as much as it does your physical abilities. ... Therefore, you must be self-motivated, determined and disciplined to do the necessary work. ... Farmers know and accept that success in life is never guaranteed - no matter how hard you work for it - but they also understand that you can't succeed if you don't work hard for it."
