Brief stronger wind gusts will exist during the pre-dawn hours as a cold front moves through.
After a brief lull, winds will strengthen again through the day. Wind advisory in effect to capture this stronger and longer duration of winds between 10 AM to 8 PM. Southwest winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts 45 to 55 mph during that time. Strongest winds from mid afternoon through early evening. Windy conditions again Friday. Turning colder this weekend.
Cory Bohmann checks in from Will County where this was the scene he encountered late Wednesday. High winds flipped the semi you see on its side here. Wow!! Great shot--but not a great development.
We carried a sound bite on our WGN evening news programs from the driver who said in all his years driving, he had never seen anything quite like the wind which flipped his rig! Wind gusts in the area late today were clocked as high as 63 mph.

STRUCTURE ASSIGNMENT: Grand Rapids firefighters were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 1800 block of Fuller Avenue NE at 03:42 hours. Ladder Company 1 arrived on scene of a single-story dwelling with fire showing from the Alpha Side. Car 6 arrived and assumed command. Engine 5 and Ladder 1 were fire attack. Additional companies performed a search and ventilated. Crews were able to obtain a quick knockdown. No injuries reported.

Significant severe weather is increasingly likely Wednesday for the state. Tornadoes(possibly strong), Widespread damaging winds up to 70-80MPH and large hail up to Golf balls are expected.
We expect storms to fire up between 11AM and 1PM then race east as a damaging line of thunderstorms.
Be weather aware and monitor for updates through the next 24-36 hours.

Dwelling Fire: Detroit Fire at St Aubin & E Lantz for a working dwelling fire. Battalion Chief 8 has incident command. Engine 44 is stretched on a burning dwelling. Chief 8 reports 2 dwellings on fire, 1 going throughout.
