Community notification. Today at Appx 9:30 am. Gillespie County Dispatch broadcast a vehicle pursuit on Hwy 290 west coming from I10 at speeds over 100mph. Harper ISD immediately placed the school on lockdown until more information was gathered. The Harper guardians were in place as HISD PD went to location to assist as it was broadcast that 2 males had fled the stop location on foot while 3 individuals were taken into custody at the scene. Kimble County Sheriffs Office, DPS, Gillespie County Sheriffs office were on scene attempting to locate. Kerrville Sheriffs deputies showed up to assist in search as well. After a detailed search a civilian spotted the male driver and did exactly what he should. The driver tried to approach him pulling up his shirt to show he had no weapon while the civilian removed himself from danger and contacted law enforcement. Suspect was apprehended shortly after and no one was injured. At no point were any students in harms way and measures had been taken for students who live in that area to be safe with an alternate plan. Thank you to everyone involved.

Today at 1pm our patrol units will be parked with lights on for 1min to honor fallen Trooper Chad Walker. We join other departments across the state to honor this brave man who made the ultimate sacrifice as requested by Governor Abbott in a moment of silence.

Our prayers go out to his family and those that served with this great man.

Harper ISD Police "Turkey Roundup"

We are conducting a turkey drive for 2020 for families in need. It has been determined that there are several families in need of the Harper community. The Department believes in our community and takes on the commitment to serve. We are attempting to raise the funds or preferably the individually wrapped turkeys to donate to these families for Thanksgiving. If our community can come together in these rough times we can make the difference this year for the few in need.

Please contact Officer Breshears (830)456-2589
