History Uncovered at the Rock House! 🧱
Time and mother nature have a way of revealing hidden history!
As the top layer of concrete and mortar on these old stone steps built by Frank Primm around 1930 slowly erodes away over time, an awesome discovery is emerging underneath... old stamped bricks and firebricks!
Are there any old brick collectors that can share their knowledge on the manufacturer of the bricks? Comment below!

The "Rock House" is packed with history, and we are so excited to finally put some of our favorite personal archives on display for everyone to see!
These incredible, well-preserved pieces of the past belonged to the family of Lillian Russell Primm, and we've recently set them out for visitors to enjoy:
A fascinating window into daily life in Harrah during WWII. Look closely and you can see a meticulous list of everyday expenses, from medicine at the City Drug Store ($3.72) to "Room & Board" with F.C. Baushausen ($31.00 for the month of August), a doctor's bill from Dr. H.B. Witten ($6.00), and even a birthday present for Patsy Russell ($1.00)!
The Bank Statements (1941 - 1948): Vintage statement sheets from The First National Bank of Harrah ("A Strong Bank in a Live Town") made out to James T. Russell, Sr. They show transactions in classic typewriter and stamp ink, dating back to 1941. Next time you visit the Rock House, make sure to take a close look at these incredible snapshots of Harrah's daily history!

👀 Every grand landmark has a starting point, and for the Rock House, it’s this nearly century-old brick structure.
Before the main house stood as it does today, the Primm family lived right here. They stayed in the upper living quarters while utilizing the lower level as a workshop.

🕵️‍♂️ COMMUNITY JURY : An Inquiry Regarding The Heart of Stone Mystery 💎
To our amazing local history lovers and mystery buffs, we need your detective eyes on a quick question behind the scenes!
We know so many of you are waiting on the edge of your seats to secure your character roles and case files for our 1940s-themed fundraising event, The Heart of Stone. The scripts are ready, the clues are set, and the atmosphere is going to be incredible.
The main reason bookings haven't officially opened yet is that we’ve been working hard to secure a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor so that every ticket purchase and donation could be 100% tax-deductible for you.
As we finalize the timeline, we want to check the pulse of our community with a quick question:
If we aren't able to secure a tax-deductible status in time, would you still come out to support our local preservation projects and play the game?

🕵️‍♂️ SUSPECT OR DETECTIVE? WE NEED YOUR VOTE! 🔍
Planning to join us for our upcoming "Heart of Stone" 1940s Murder Mystery Fundraiser at the historic Rock House? We are putting the final touches on the evening's secrets, and we want to know how you want to play!
We have two ways you can experience the mystery:
👉 Option A: The Detective Pool
You and your friends will work as a crack team of investigators. You'll gather clues, cross-examine the room, and try to crack the case together. Perfect if you love a good puzzle but prefer to keep a lower profile!
👉 Option B: A Prime Suspect
You’ll be assigned a specific 1940s character role with your own backstory, secrets, and motives. You might even be the killer—or the next victim! Perfect if you love to dress up, mingle, and dive headfirst into the drama.

Its almost that time..

Billionaire geologist Arthur Rockwell has officially opened the doors to his private estate, inviting a *very* select group for an exclusive evening. The occasion? The grand unveiling of his crown jewel: the legendary, priceless **"Bloodstone Emerald."** 🕵️‍♂️✨
But in a house built on secrets, old grudges run deep. When a rare gem is involved, everyone has a motive, and "until death do us part" might come sooner than expected.
Will the night end in a toast... or a tragedy?
The walls have eyes, and one of our guests might not make it to breakfast. 🖤

Deep roots
1912 In a case of self-defense, Edgar Otis (E.O.) Waner—uncle of Harrah’s famous baseball Hall of Famers, the Waner brothers—shot and killed Levi Maupin in Waner's blacksmith shop where the Harrah History Center sits today.
The roots of that story run directly into Harrah's present day:
Levi Maupin was the grandfather of Lillian Russell Primm, who (along with her husband Frank) built our beloved historic Rock House.
Today, 7 generations of Levi’s family still call Harrah home!
One of those descendants, Samantha Barnes, is actively keeping the legacy alive by acting as the property manager for the Rock House and working hard to raise funds for its restoration.
It is incredible that a major historical event happened right where we now preserve our town's past—and that the family is still here doing the heavy lifting to protect it. ❤️🏛️

A huge thank you to Row Davidson and April Barnes for their beautiful gift to The Rock House!
They recently donated a stunning display table for the Russell family Bible—a precious piece of history that belonged to Lillian Primm’s parents. It’s an honor to have such a significant heirloom showcased so perfectly.
But their generosity doesn't stop there!
April is the talent behind our fantastic Rock House shirts. 👕
Row, along with the wonderful team at Wolf Living Center, donated the majority of the gorgeous Christmas decor that made our holiday tours so magical. 🎄❄️
We are so incredibly lucky to have such supportive friends in our community. Next time you visit, be sure to take a look at the new display!

We are thrilled to announce the completion of the Rock House door restoration. (We are still on the hunt for right handle.)
Projects like these preserve the soul of our community, and they are only possible through your support.
