As kids travel to and from school every day, let’s work to ensure they are riding safely. Give your children the boost they need to earn a safety “A-plus” by using a booster seat if they do not pass the seat belt fit test.

Children are still at risk when they outgrow their forward-facing car seats and do not fit the seat belt yet. The thing to know: Booster seats keep kids safe and are a critical and important step in their transportation journey.

Harrah PD is hiring our next School Resource Officer — and we're not just looking for someone to fill a spot in the hallway.

Same badge, different beat. This is the officer who knows every kid's name by October, catches problems before they turn into a report, and still knows how to write one when it counts.

**What we need from you:**
- CLEET certified with 2+ years of patrol experience
- SRO/NASRO training is a plus, not a dealbreaker
- Clean record — no felonies, serious misdemeanors, DV convictions, or pending charges
- Ages 21–45, valid OK license, US citizen, HS diploma or GED

**What you get:**
- Starting pay $48,068.80, up to $54,121.60 for CLEET-certified officers with experience
- Insurance 100% paid for you, 75% for dependents (health, dental, vision, life)
- Take-home vehicle, plus uniforms and equipment
- OK Police Pension, paid vacation/sick/holiday, and tuition reimbursement

Both of these guys just got back after a full year deployed to the Middle East together in the same unit. Also welcoming back Firefighter Rhoades from Harrah Fire, who deployed right alongside them.

Real talk, Harrah: if there's one window to actually put the phone down and ease off the gas near a school, it's Friday afternoon.

Why:

🚗 A multi-year Colorado State Patrol crash analysis found school-zone crashes triple during pickup and drop-off hours — and Friday afternoons topped that list.

⏰ Nationally, a decade of federal crash data (NHTSA) shows 3–4 p.m. is consistently the most dangerous hour of the day for kids walking near schools. Dismissal time, in other words.

🎒 Put "everyone's mentally clocked out for the weekend" next to "a wave of kids leaving school" and you get exactly the kind of afternoon that ends up in a report.

So yes, it's almost the weekend. Slow down anyway.

And if you spot someone driving like they already started their weekend — reckless, weaving, flying through the zone — don't chase them down yourself. Don't confront them, don't put yourself or your kids at risk trying to make a point. Get their tag number and call it in. We'll take it from there.

This agreement will enhance public safety for the Harrah citizens and allow us to have a cooperative relationship with the nearby jurisdiction of the Kickapoo Police
