Tomorrow, March 16th, the annual burn ban goes into effect across New York State to help prevent wildfires during the high-risk spring season. Open burning of brush and debris is prohibited from through May 14. These temporary restrictions help protect our communities, first responders, and natural resources by reducing the risk of rapidly spreading brush fires.

For detailed information regarding the contents of the burn ban, visit https://dec.ny.gov/environmental-protection/air-quality/open-burning.

Stay safe and help keep Orange County wildfire-free this Spring.

Congratulations Matt!! We are all proud of you and job well done!! Matt is a third generation firefighter from Harriman Engine Co. where he stared his volunteer service following in his family’s footsteps. Matt is continuing that service as an active member of Greenwood Lake FD.

Giving back to our community will always be part of who we are. Through the First In, Last Out Charles C. Niemann Foundation , we continue honoring Charlie’s legacy by supporting the next generation of volunteer firefighters….those who selflessly step forward to serve and protect our neighbors.

It’s a privilege to award another scholarship to Matt Lowe of the Greenwood Lake Fire Department. Your dedication, courage, and commitment to our community truly make a difference.

Charlie’s spirit of service lives on through moments like this and we’re grateful to keep that mission going. ❤️🚒
