The Parks And Recreation Dept. for the City of Harrington has announced a new lineup and route for the annual Christmas parade to be held on Friday, December 2nd. Please take notice and plan accordingly. Any questions, concerns or comments can be directed to the City of Harrington Parks and Recreation.

New Route and Lineup Areas for the 2022 Christmas Parade, to be held on Dec 2, 2022

This year we have decided to change the lineup and route for the Harrington Christmas Parade. The image shows where we will be lining up, the areas shown in Orange. The Route is shown in blue.

Lineup will be on Delaware Ave between Raughley Hill Rd and Center St. Extra areas will be on Smith Ave, Shaw Ave, and Center St Ext. Participants will be given their position number and street a few days before the parade. There will be very limited access to these areas, so please pay attention to the directions given to you for lineup. If you live on these streets, do not worry, we will not block your driveways! You will also be able to get to your homes, we just ask you use caution when driving along the parade lineup areas.

If you need to enter Harrington for other business, please utilize Clark St off of Rt 13, as Delaware Ave will be closed to through traffic for safety issues.

Once the parade starts, Clark Street will be closed as well, so if you need to proceed west of Harrington, your best bet is to use Fairground Rd to Farmington Rd, then turn right onto Farmington Rd. This will bring you to Rt 14 and you can proceed west bound. We anticipate the closure of Clark Street from approximately 645pm till 8pm.

For the Parade Route itself, if you have lived here for a while, this should be very familiar to you, as this was the route used for many years.

The parade will start at Center St and Delaware Ave, proceed west on Center St to Dorman St. The parade will then turn left onto Dorman St and proceed to Commerce St. From Commerce St, where judging will take place, the parade will turn right onto Clark St, the location of our announcers stand. The parade then proceeds east on Clark St to the Harrington Fire Company parking lot.

This will allow for the safe unloading of floats and other vehicles. If you are a participant, please DO NOT STOP IN THE DRIVEWAY! Proceed into the large parking area before stopping to unload so we can keep the parade moving.

As always, if you have any questions, please contact our offices, 302-398-7975.

Thank you, the staff of HPR
