Thanks to Dr. Chelton Hunter and the amazing faculty at Fink Elementary School in Middletown and the PA Literacy Coalition for highlighting the reading gains made by students with structured literacy.

I’m working with PA State Rep. Jason Ortitay on dedicated funding for literacy through an innovative public-private partnership. Ensuring our children can learn to read and then read to learn secures a brighter future for Pennsylvania.

As a long-time advocate for children, I recognize that the ability of parents to access and afford high quality childcare for their children is critically important.

I had a wonderful time visiting U-GRO Learning Centres off Union Deposit and meeting with their amazing teachers and students. Their curriculum throughout each room was impressive and will pay dividends for these young learners for years to come!

Thanks to Dr. Dawn Gullette Crosson Psyd at Harrisburg Area Learning Academy (HALA) Center for Trauma and Healing for inviting me to their annual gala.

As the only Trauma Recovery Center operating in the state, right here in our district, they are helping so many people by providing high quality mental/behavioral health services and resource connection for those in need.

It is incumbent on the state government to do its part to make investments in those who need mental health treatment so they can find a provider!

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Veterans Luncheon last Friday!

In honor of our nation's 250th anniversary, Teri Fegley, Regent of our area's Daughters of the American Revolution chapter, presented information about the local men and women who served in the Revolutionary War.

One of the greatest ways we can honor those who died fighting for our freedom is by supporting our veterans. This was an incredible opportunity for us to serve those who so bravely served us.

Thanks to the Linglestown Community for honoring soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during their annual Memorial Day Parade.

It was especially meaningful to meet the parade’s grand marshal George Ivanoff, a 101-year-old veteran of World War II.

Thanks to the Dauphin County Commissioners for inviting me to the annual Veterans Breakfast.

As we approach Memorial Day, let’s continue to hold onto the memories of those in service to our nation who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms and liberties we enjoy.

As a reminder, my office is closed tomorrow, May 25 in observance of the day. Have a fun and safe holiday!

I had a wonderful time meeting community-based organizations and healthcare partners at the 2nd annual Tapestry of Health Community Day at the WIC location in Camp Hill!

For over 50 years, the Tapestry of Health WIC Programs have provided social services referrals, breastfeeding support and health nutrition for pregnant women, mothers, and child caregivers. Thanks to the Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania for the invitation!
