PSC is devastated by the news of the passing of fire instructor Dave Floyd. Dave has been a long serving public servant and continued his service as both a fire service instructor and logistics tech at PSC the past few years. Dave could be found many days of the week working on the grounds, prepping for courses or leading classes in the classroom. Dave was a kind hearted man, always looking to help anyway he could. Hundreds of fireman can attribute their early training to Dave and the success of many of our programs were a reflection of Dave’s work behind the scenes. You will be missed, but your legacy of selfless service will continue through those you touched. Rest easy, brother.

Tonight, PSC’s EMS Director Jim Green led from the front. For those following the changes and progression of the EMS training unit, those changes are because of the leadership and vision of this leader.

An amazing day of EMS skills for our 3 high school EMT programs. Today, students from Camp Hill, Cumberland Valley and Fairfield High Schools converged on the HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College's PSC training grounds for a full day of skills and running simulated calls. The students were paired in teams and accompanied by current EMS personnel, instructors and volunteers, handling all sorts of medical emergencies. This culminating event brought together all of the skills and knowledge learned over the past few months. Special thanks to our partners, Community Life Team EMS and Yellow Breeches EMS for bringing additional apparatus and staff, as well as our surprise guest, Stat Medevac!

Special thanks to all of the EMS and Fire Training Units for their hard work in planning and executing this spectacular event.

Do you know a high school interested in EMS programs? If so, reach out and lets discuss options to provide these opportunities for our future EMS professionals.

The "51 Strong" made it through week 1 as the 119th Municipal Police Academy. Because of the size of this group and the continued need for social distancing HACC's Harrisburg Campus set up the Evans gymnasium to accommodate the classroom instruction for this large group. Hands on practical skills will still be conducted at PSC. Good luck cadets!

Today marks the end of week 3 for the 65th fire academy. 3 weeks ago some of the recruits came to the academy without any experience. These 17 recruits represent the following career departments: Chambersburg, Harrisburg, Manheim Township, Scranton, Washington, Williamsport, Wilkes-Barre, and York. We are very fortunate that the fire chiefs of these departments are interested in the training provided. Chief Deardorf from York City was part of the instructional cadre today and Chambersburg's Chief Ulrich and Assistant Chief Myers stopped by to check on their recruits. Pictured below are AC Myers and Chief Ulrich, with Perry Pierich, Director of Fire Training.
