Term Limits Are Long Overdue! ⏰
Wanting term limits in Congress is NOT “hating old people.” Aging is a blessing, and older generations built much of the world we live in today. Respecting our elders should always matter.
But Congress was never supposed to be a retirement plan or a lifetime position of power.
We have leaders making decisions about:
• climate change
• AI and the future of jobs
• housing affordability
• reproductive rights
• student debt
• school shootings
• social media regulation
…while many of them will never personally experience the long-term consequences of those decisions.
That’s a problem.
A healthy democracy needs rotation. New energy. New lived experiences. New ideas.
Younger generations deserve representation from people who actually understand what it costs to rent an apartment right now, what it feels like to graduate into debt, or what it’s like growing up during climate disasters and nonstop economic instability.
Term limits wouldn’t erase wisdom. They would create balance.
You can honor experience WITHOUT allowing people to hold political power for 30, 40, 50 years.
Public service should be about serving the public — not keeping power forever or getting rich off of insider trading.
