Even though our Annual Memorial Service at Boalsburg had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the special day did not go unobserved for 2020. A single wreath was placed this morning at the division shrine, on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Military Museum. We'd like to thank Tyler Gum, the museum's site administrator, for placing the wreath and for inviting us to record the simple yet very meaningful single-person ceremony.

We solemnly commemorate this day with our brothers and sisters in arms of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, our partners through the National Guard’s State Partnership Program. The words of our Embassy to Lithuania below ring true.

For more information about this day in Lithuanian history, simply look up “January 13 1991 Lithuania”.

🇺🇸 Today we join together with Lithuanians to remember the people who fought and died for the freedom of Lithuania. This day reminds us of the importance of unity and fraternity, during times of both conflict and peace. May the light of candles throughout Lithuania and forget-me-nots remind us of the brave souls who gave the ultimate sacrifice for freedom and peace.
