Pennsylvania NASP

Pennsylvania NASP NASP is designed to teach target archery in physical education classes of grades 4 - 12. Students of all physical abilities can participate, succeed and enjoy.

Thanks to support from the archery industry, the $6,000 equipment "kits" can be purchased by schools for approximately $3,100. The PA Game Commission is offering $1,500 grants to schools to off-set the cost of the purchase of a NASP kit. In addition to the PGC monies, other funds are often available as well to minimize the cost for schools. Teachers and other adult individuals who are interested (

parent volunteers, paraprofessionals, etc.) undergo an 8-hour NASP Basic Archery Instructor (BAI) training program prior to presenting the archery curriculum in class. Act 48 credits are available for PE teacher participation. BAI workshops are offered at NO COST throughout PA. Students shoot at 80cm bulls-eye targets placed before an arrow curtain in their gymnasium. Equipment used is state-of-the-art and universal-fit so every student can use the same bows and arrows. Archery's safety record is better than that of every ball sport taught in schools except table tennis. NASP can translate into compelling subject matter for math, science, and history. Students enjoy NASP so much, that on days it is offered, it has the power to positively influence school attendance. Additionally, it involves physical activity in which virtually every student can participate and boys and girls can participate together. NASP can evolve into an extra-curricular activity which puts athletes and non-athletes on a level playing field and which students routinely take home to friends and family. Furthermore, NASP teaches a life-long physical activity that is intriguing enough that it can compete with computer games and TV, getting students off the sofa and out-of-doors. NASP routinely transforms previously unreachable, "high risk" students by unlocking self-esteem and has the ability to touch, transform, redirect, lift and change individual lives forever. Tournaments are held at the state, National (Louisville, KY), and World (Disney's ESPN Wide world of Sports) level.

And Pennsylvania State NASP Tournament is in the books!

Last week brought lots of excitement to Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim, with the Pennsylvania Game Commission hosting BOTH the Bullseye and 3D State Tournaments.

The combined tournaments welcomed 1,363 students, grades 4 through 12, with a record-breaking team participation in both the Bullseye and 3D Tournaments: 64 schools in Bullseye and 35 schools in 3D.

When you break that all down, that’s more than 51,000 arrows flying in less than 8 hours!

The tournament began with student archer Alexis Rozell from Montrose Middle School performing the national anthem and Olympic medalist and Pennsylvania archer Casey Kaufhold shooting the honorary first arrow of the tournament.

We’re celebrating our top archers and teams. You can check out full tournament results, but here’s a rundown of our top archers!

Pennsylvania NASP celebrated many things during this tournament, including more than $20,000 in scholarships awarded to Pennsylvania student archers. Without the contributions of our amazing sponsors, these scholarships would not be possible.
2026 Sponsors included: Pennsylvania Game Commission, Pennsylvania The National Wild Turkey Federation, Prestige Apparel, LLC., Ducks Unlimited, Lancaster Archery Supply, Pennsylvania Bowhunters Festival, BIG Shot Targets, and National Archery in the Schools Program.

To continue the celebration and camaraderie of the tournaments, student archers and their families were able to participate in the Student Archers Expo, featuring more than 15 different vendors from tournament apparel to keepsake photography, archery gear, and more.

Thank you to the parents, coaches, spectators, family, friends, and fans for supporting our student archers as they compete. Those in attendance shined right alongside their archers and teams.

We are already counting down the days until the 2027 tournaments… we’ll see you there!

When you are the reigning state champs, they roll out the red carpet… or in this case, the marble steps.

Earlier this month, the Upper Dauphin archery team and their coaches were recognized at the Capitol by PA State Rep. Joe Kerwin and State Senator Greg Rothman.

Steve Smith, Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director, had the opportunity to congratulate the team during their Capitol visit and thank them for participating in the Pennsylvania NASP program.

Congratulations, again, to Upper Dauphin!

Are you looking for an unforgettable outdoor experience for your youth this summer?

We’re thrilled to partner with Raised At Full Draw to offer youth camps at three different Pennsylvania locations: Wexford, Felton, and Loysville.

From tree stand safety to mastering shot placement and completing the Hunter-Trapper Education Course, RAFD camps offer hands-on experiences, for youth ages 11-17, that go beyond the hunt. Campers can expect to gain essential outdoor skills, create lasting relationships, and develop a strong appreciation for ethical hunting practices.

And if you don’t have a bow, that’s ok! The camp can supply one.

Join them in embracing the outdoors and becoming stewards of nature!

DON’T WAIT — Registration ends early June. Learn more and register at: raisedatfulldraw.com

More than 15,585 student archers, with one thing on their minds… that 10-ring.

Over Mother’s Day weekend, these students converged at the Eastern Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky to compete in the Bullseye and 3D tournaments, making it one of the largest archery tournaments IN HISTORY!

Pennsylvania NASP proudly congratulates the 188 individual archers and nine teams who competed in the tournament, with a special shout out to those who placed in TOP FIVE!

But that's not all!

Not only did Ava Castrogiovanni and Blake McKennas claim National Championship titles but they also were named to the 2025 Academic All-American Academic Archers Team! This high honor goes to student archers who not only excel on the range but in the classroom as well.
Well done, PA NASP archers!

And a VERY special THANK YOU to the schools, coaches, and parents for your continued dedication to these archers. Thank you for providing opportunities for them to do what they love and showcase their skills!

Next Up, NASP Championship!

Just over a week ago, the Pennsylvania Game Commission hosted Pennsylvania’s NASP State Bullseye and IBO 3D State tournaments at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim and here’s how it went…

More than 60 schools. 1400 student archers. Grades fourth through 12th. More than 50,000 arrows flew. $20,000 in scholarships awarded. Countless memories made.

To add to the excitement, Pennsylvania’s own, Casey Kaufhold, Olympic bronze medalist, kicked off a new tradition by firing the honorary first arrow of the tournament. That was followed by a beautiful rendition of our National Anthem, sang my Montrose Area School District archers, Alexis Rozell and Ali Rhinevault.

Congratulations to all archers for competing and achieving so much during these tournaments. You can find the top results from the tournaments below. For full results, visit the links in the comments.
