Central PA GIS Day GIS Day 2021 will be celebrated as a hybrid event which will include virtual and in person options o We hope to see you this year. Make sure to save the date.

Every year since 2009, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania along with other Partners host a free event during National Geography Week in November. The goal of this free event is to create awareness and knowledge about GIS technologies by showcasing how they contribute and enhance our everyday lives. There are always workshops , demonstrations, and exhibits geared to a variety of different audiences. The planning committee meets year round to make sure the event is a success.

Registration is now open for the free Central PA GIS Day event being held on Wednesday, November 16. There are options to attend virtually, or in-person at Harrisburg University of Science & Technology.

We are happy to announce that our Keynote Speaker for the 2022 event will be... Emily Mercurio, PhD, PG!

She is the the CEO and Co-Founder of CivicMapper, a geospatial technology development company that creates solutions for climate, infrastructure, and social equity using the power of modern mapping technologies. Her career has focused on creating innovative and data-driven solutions to support decisions at the intersection of our natural and built environments. She is an experienced geoscientist and an expert in mapping, field geology, GIS, remote sensing, and the application of geospatial technology to solve real-world problems.

The 2022 Central Pennsylvania GIS Day will be held on Wednesday November 16, both in-person at Harrisburg University and as a virtual event.

We would love to see YOU participate as a Presenter and/or Exhibitor at this year’s event! There will be multiple concurrent sessions happening in both a live-streamed virtual and in-person format, as well as a formal Exhibit Hall. Please consider showcasing some of the excellent work that your organization has been completing in one of these settings.

Presentations
A presentation is a great way to share your technical knowledge or showcase a project or initiative to your peers within the geospatial community. Presentations can be 20 or 40 minutes in length. *Note - All presentations will be in-person this year, while select tracts of presentations will be live-streamed for participants opting to attend virtually.

Exhibit Hall
Companies, agencies, universities, and other organizations will have the opportunity to showcase themselves in an in-person Exhibit Hall. There is no cost to be an exhibitor, but physical spaces are limited and will be allotted on a first come, first serve basis.

Present at the 2022 PA GIS Conference!
The PAGIS Conference planning committee is now accepting breakout session submissions (20 minute or 50 minute presentations) for the 2022 PA GIS Conference. Presentations will take place on either Tuesday, June 14 or Wednesday, June 15 at The Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center in State College.

Submissions will be reviewed by members of the Conference planning committee. While all submissions will be considered, Conference planners are most interested in presentations that align with our conference theme:
"GIS Solutions for a Changing World".

Sessions will be scheduled for the best Conference balance.

The deadline to submit your presentation(s) is 4 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2022.

Only 1 month until GIS Day!! This year’s keynote speaker Andrea Grace Johnson, Assistant Division Chief in the U.S. Census Bureau’s Geography Division. A Penn State graduate, Andrea will talk about how GIS is being used in conjunction with the 2020 census data and other topics.

Be sure to register for the hybrid event and select how you'd like to attend. There is no cost to attend, but you must register in advance.

We hope to see you at Central PA GIS Day on Wednesday November 14! This is a local, free event that is voluntarily organized by great people who are passionate about GIS. CLUS is attending as an exhibitor, plus we are presenting two of our story maps. Shippensburg Alum (2018), Jonathon Chester will present the Kittatinny Ridge story map, SU grad student and CLUS fellow Trish Newdeck will present the 125 Anniversary story map for Pennsylvania Parks and Forest, and Dr. Scott Drzyzga will also be attending.
