SPECIAL GENERAL PETRAEUS INITIATIVE

We are proud to share a commemorative initiative honoring General David H. Petraeus, former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency and commander of U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq.

At the center of this initiative is the General Petraeus Commemorative Bourbon, a limited-edition 100-proof offering that reflects both exceptional craftsmanship and a deeper sense of purpose. A portion of the proceeds from each bottle sold helps support Mental Health Global work addressing Ukraine’s urgent mental health needs.

Mental Health Global is an AI-driven platform providing free, scalable mental health assistance in Ukrainian, Russian, and English. In collaboration with American University Kyiv, the initiative uses advanced technology to help bridge critical gaps in mental health care while strengthening organizations supporting communities affected by conflict and trauma.

By purchasing the General Petraeus Commemorative Bourbon, you are acquiring a premium collector’s bottle while also helping support and bring attention to an important mission focused on healing, resilience, and human connection.

For collectors, the first 50 bottles are personally signed by General Petraeus, making this release especially unique and highly collectible.

From the Archives

This edition of “The Trumpeter” was published this week in 1943 while 28th Infantry Division soldiers prepared for overseas service.

The 1st Battalion 110th Infantry Regiment newspaper covered the goings on around camp, training objectives, and officers and men preparing the unit for war. The full 35 page edition can be found in our historical archives, digitized and brought to you free of charge as part of the associations ongoing efforts to preserve our units legacy.

Memorial Day, 1922

Memorial Day weekend provides a time to remember our fallen and reflect on their sacrifices for our nation. In May of 1922, 28th Division veteran Captain Robert Cain travelled all the way to Paris, France to help a delegation of allied veterans commemorate their fallen of World War I.

Cain served with the 18th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and 111th Infantry Regiment during his nearly 20 year career in the Pennsylvania National Guard. In 1922 he was serving as the Aide de Camp of the Veterans of Foriegn Wars. Cain and Captain Reuel Elton, National Adjutant General of the VFW, were among a delegation of American veterans invited to Paris by the French veterans group L’Union Nationale des Combattants.

Alongside members of the French group, the British Legion, and other allied veterans organizations, Cain and Elton marched down the avenues of Paris to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. There, on behalf of all American veterans of the war, they placed a memorial wreath in remembrance.

This weekend we remember the generations of 28th Infantry Division soldiers who have sacrificed for our nation, and we carry on the tradition of honoring them, each in our own way.

Special thanks to Musée France 40 Véhicules for sharing these images from their collection of artifacts, and their continued work honoring the Division and its actions in Fismes.
