During the 1973 term, students from the Upper Darby school district petitioned the state legislature to make the firefly the official state insect. We have a letter from one of the classes to Representative Fred Noye to propose their idea. To the avail of those students, Governor Milton Shapp signed Senate Bill 1380 into law ultimately making the firefly the state insect of Pennsylvania. #archiveshashtagparty #archivesbugs

#preservationtips This was a recent donation where narrow wood pieces were glued around the border of the document. We recommend not using glue with documents as it usually tears and leaves residue. Luckily, we have plenty of documents from this individual to preserve in our collection, but kept this as a valuable learning tool.
