Career exploration doesnโ€™t have to wait until high school!

Today, students in our Medical Detectives class were putting their learning into action through hands-on healthcare stationsโ€”and they had some pretty awesome partners helping them along the way.

University of Sioux Falls nursing students joined our classroom to lead stations, coach students through different skills, answer questions, and provide real-time feedback.

This is what makes Career & Technical Education (CTE) so exciting. Students aren't just learning about careersโ€”theyโ€™re getting opportunities to experience them.

And today, one of our district valuesโ€”COMMUNITYโ€”was on full display. Our community stepped into the classroom, shared their expertise, and helped our students see what could be possible in their future.

As she begins her second year as an English Language Arts teacher at East Middle School, Mrs. Lauren Bennett is bringing our ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ฉ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐˜€ to life by building a positive, collaborative learning ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—บ๐—บ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† rooted in strong relationships.

In just the first eight days of school, Mrs. Bennett used Minga an incredible 565 times to recognize and positively reinforce students as they work together to create an environment where everyone can learn, grow, and thrive.

By intentionally recognizing students for the choices and behaviors that strengthen our School ๐—–๐—ผ๐—บ๐—บ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐˜†, Mrs. Bennett is helping our students see our ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ฉ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐˜€ in action every day.

There is so much joy in watching learning come to life across our classrooms!

Today we got to see our youngest learners building strong number sense and learning numbers to 5, and our 5th graders collaborating, thinking critically, and exploring the volume of prisms.

Behind each of these moments are teachers who intentionally plan, ask great questions, and create opportunities for collaboration.

At tonightโ€™s meeting, the Special Education Department thanked the Board of Education for its support in creating the Heritage Learning Center, a dedicated home for our Special Education Department and the STEP and TLC programs. One Heritage, Many Pathways, Endless Possibilities!

Brad Seamer was also honored as the South Dakota Assistant Principal of the Year. This well-deserved recognition reflects his exceptional leadership, commitment to students, and positive impact on the staff and school community he serves. ๐Ÿพ
