Happy National Bird Day! 🐦 Let's recognize the beauty and importance of birds in our natural environment. Here are 5 tips to help conserve birds:
1. Plant native flowering plants that attract birds and provide food.
2. Install birdhouses and nest boxes in your backyard.
3. Reduce or eliminate the use of pesticides and herbicides.
4. Keep cats indoors to reduce predation.
5. Participate in a local bird conservation effort. 💚

This past fall, Clarion Conservation District hosted two field trips at the Morrison Abandoned Mine Drainage (AMD) Treatment System located at the Clarion County Park in Shippenville, PA.

AMD is water that is polluted from contact with mining activity, normally associated with coal mining. Problems associated with mine drainage include contaminated drinking water, disrupted growth and reproduction of aquatic plants and animals, and the corroding effects of the acid on parts of infrastructures such as bridges. AMD streams are not able to support most aquatic life.

Start making the switch to reusable straws for a more sustainable planet and your own pocket. 🌊🤩 Not only are reusable straws better for the environment, but they also come with a multitude of other benefits such as:

*Reduced cost – instead of spending money on single-use plastics, reusable straws are affordable and will last long in your daily routine.
*Durability – these straws are made to last and won't tear apart or break easily.
*Sustainable – no more contributing to plastic pollution when you use a reusable straw!

Make the switch to reusable and make a difference!
