Last night, Blayre joined City of Pittsburgh First Lady Katie O’Connor at the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Pittsburgh Experience to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death among women.

During the candid Red Couch Conversation, Blayre emphasized the importance of women’s health and CPR education. You can help make a difference by learning your risk factors, getting CPR certified, and supporting the women in your life.

Christian is absolutely right. By addressing gun violence through investments in youth organizations and community groups, we’re seeing rates of gun violence drop across our cities.

But there’s still more work to do to keep these trends on track and keep people safe.

This week, the Southwest County Commissioners stopped by Harrisburg to discuss their legislative priorities for the upcoming state budget.

From increasing the minimum wage, to supporting violence prevention initiatives, investing in public education plus universal free breakfast, this budget will deliver real results for the people in the Southwest and across this Commonwealth.

Political violence is too common in America.

It is on all of us to come together, bridge our divides, and find ways to solve our differences without the threat of violence.

In Pride month, we honor the history of the vibrant LGBTQ+ community and remember the individuals who helped usher in change, acceptance, and love.

Make sure to stop by the Philly Pride Visitor Center to learn about the Philadelphians who shaped this movement from the very start.

An act of gun violence is what brought me to public service, just like so many young voices, advocates, and elected leaders throughout this country. From gun su***de, to mass shootings, accidental discharges, and homicides, every death from gun violence is a tragedy but 100% preventable.

During this National Gun Violence Awareness Month, we honor every life lost to gun violence by making our communities safer and fighting for progress.

Solving the crisis of gun violence in our communities means looking at the whole picture – and that includes making sure gun dealers are operating responsibly, not profiting off of gun violence.

Immigrants are what make this country and this Commonwealth run.

This past April, I was honored to speak at The Welcoming Center’s Solas Awards in Philadelphia, honoring the immigrants that have made a difference in their communities. I’m proud of what the Shapiro-Davis Administration has done to stand up against the federal overreach and action that has caused irreparable harm to our immigrant communities.

Everyone in Pennsylvania has the right to be safe and feel safe. And we’re going to keep fighting to protect your rights against the attacks from the Trump Administration.

Here in America, every family has a different story of how they first came to these shores. Some of our ancestors were brought here. Some came here from fleeing war. And some came to find economic opportunity. But now that we’re all here, we are all Americans.

Pennsylvania has always accepted immigrants to our shores and we are not going to stop now. Happy Immigrant Heritage Month, Pennsylvania.

As a father, I understand why Pennsylvania needs affordable, high-quality, and accessible child care in every county, for every Pennsylvanian.

And as co-chair of the PA Early Learning Investment Commission, I’m working with our state agencies to develop better policy and better investments, both from state and private businesses, so that Pennsylvania becomes a leader in child care.
