The primary purpose of the program is to address street trees that pose an imminent threat to public safety. All Hands On Deck!
We are looking for volunteers who want to make an impact in Harrisburg. The Great Harrisburg Litter Cleanup is seeking volunteers for the following roles:
Truck Drivers – Must provide your own truck. You are in charge of picking up trash at the corner of the streets in your assigned area and transporting them to your designated dumpster site.
Dumpster Monitors- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. You will be in charge of unloading trash bags from trucks to the dumpsters.

While pre-registration has closed, we are still welcoming volunteers for trash pickers on the day of the event. Registration opens at 7:30 AM.

In a reverse parade, the parade entrants are stationary and spectators drive by in their vehicles rather than gathering in large groups along the street. A $100 Amazon gift card will be awarded to the group that best exemplifies the parade theme “Hometown Holidays.”

FALL IS FOR TREE PLANTING!
This fall the City will be planting street trees in the Camp Curtin area, through a grant from the Community Covenant Corporation. The area included is between Division and Maclay Streets, and between Logan and 7th Streets. If you live in that part of the City and would like a new tree on your street, please let the City Forester know. Funds are limited and requests will be honored on a first come first served basis until September 15.
If you’re a Camp Curtin resident interested in a street tree, or if you’d like to help plant this fall, please contact Ellen Roane, City Forester at [email protected].
