Progress Report: The water bond project contractor (HP Civil) working on the water tanks is now working on the above ground structures. (Most of the work to this point has been underground, and on the foundations.)

The picture below is from the north project site on Peoria; this will eventually be the 1.5M gallon steel tank. The sides you see here are temporary, as this type of assembly is due to seismic construction. 02/13/2025

Hi Harrisburg! Hope you are staying warm and safe today. City Facilities will remain closed today, due to a very small window of non-freezing temperatures, and the expected freezing rain in the afternoon.

Be careful out there!

02/13/2025

City facilities will be open today on a delayed start, TBD, due to freezing rain. Harrisburg Fire/Rescue District is advising people to avoid roads at this time, as there is a good layer of ice on the roads. Stay warm, and safe!

02/11/2025

No matter which winter forecast you use, it's going to be one of the coldest nights of the year tonight! (Mine says 18 degrees). Please take precautions now to help avoid frozen pipes! Keep a faucet in the bathroom farthest from your water supply intake dripping overnight. In older homes with little insulation, open up cupboard doors to expose water pipes to the warmth of the house. Make sure that you have covers on your outdoor faucets too. (Contact Hurds to get one - (541)995-6317) Find out where your water can be turned off in case you need to in an emergency! If you aren't sure where your intake is, your water service can always be turned off on the customers side of the meter.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible, and if you use space heaters, please make sure to keep the unit away from any combustibles, such as curtains, or throws. Please consider checking on older family, friends, and neighbors too.

Good morning Harrisburg,
Public Works is continuing the repair work on the Dempsey St water line throughout the day today. Area residents may experience interruptions in water service while repairs and testing are being conducted. Interruptions are anticipated to begin at 10am and last until 5pm today, unless the repairs are completed sooner. We apologize for any inconvenience that these interruptions may cause.

02/03/2025

A water line on Dempsey St. broke this morning, and is in the process of being repaired. Residents on Dempsey St. between 6th and 7th and on Dempsey Court will experience low water pressure tonight. Please conserve water usage if you live in this area. Public Works crews will return tomorrow morning to continue the repair on this line. Water supply in this area is still safe and sanitary to drink.

Good afternoon Harrisburg! Even though it's still really cold, that sunshine sure looks great! Now is a great time to start thinking about vegetation management/defensible space. When the sun is shining and the plants/vines are dormant, it's a perfect opportunity to look over the property and make a plan for vegetation management. Low hanging trees, blackberry vines and other nuisance vegetation can be very problematic during fire season. Keeping these cut back and managed adds curb appeal to the property, helps keep unwanted critters from being attracted, and aids in fire safety. Early management while it's cooler also makes it easier to manage when the temps start climbing.
