On Monday evening, members of Harrison Fire-Rescue conducted water rescue training at a local pond in the Village of Sherwood. Training like this helps us maintain and strengthen the skills needed for incidents involving retention ponds, inlet water sources, and other waterways throughout our district.
Water rescue incidents require strong coordination between emergency personnel, equipment, and specialized resources to help ensure the best possible outcome. These trainings allow our crews to practice communication, rescue techniques, scene management, and equipment deployment in a realistic environment.
We also appreciated the community's support during the training. Many residents stopped by to ask questions, speak with our members, interact with divers in the water, and even try throwing a rope bag during rescue demonstrations. Opportunities like this help build awareness and give the public a better understanding of the challenges responders face during water emergencies.
With the number of ponds, retention basins, and waterways throughout our area, it is important for everyone to recognize the hazards these bodies of water can present, especially during changing weather conditions and throughout the year. Harrison Fire-Rescue remains committed to training, preparedness, and ensuring the proper resources are ready when emergencies occur.
