The Boone County Library joins communities everywhere in mourning the loss of Dolly Parton.

Dolly was a legendary entertainer, but to libraries and families, she was also a champion of something very close to our hearts—the love of reading. Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she helped put books into the hands of children and encouraged families to discover the joy of reading together.

Here at the Boone County Library, we see every day how a book can open a child’s imagination, bring a family together, teach something new, or simply provide a little escape. Dolly understood that power, and she spent so much of her life helping children experience it.

We are grateful for the beautiful legacy she leaves behind—not only through her music and entertainment, but through the countless children who grew up with a book in their hands because of her generosity.
