NEBRASKA is in a strict fire ban, that means absolutely no burning of any sorts at this time, if you do burn and somethings starts from that burn, you could be reliable and held accountable for the aftermath of that burn.
The Rocky Mountain Region (R2) (Region 2), has now became a level 2. This Region consists of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
Governor Pillen executive order effect until 11:59pm March 27,2026, then will be reassessed.
We are in red flag warnings.

If you are wanting to help by donating any livestock feed, ranching supplies, meals or other products needed to those effected by the massive acres burned in the sandhills there are multiple communities and businesses accepting them at this time. The TriState Livestock News page and also the Nebraska Cattlemn's page have posted a few of the many places accepting donations to help those who need assistance, and the Alliance FFA Page are a couple that I have seen. If you know of more places please feel free to add them in the comments

The Highway 20 Pine Ridge Mutual Aid Strike Team sent multiple type 6 engines, 3 command vehicles, and a Sidexside over the past weekend.

~Sioux County Rescue is not funded or affiliated with the Harrison Volunteer Fire Department or the Rural Fire District in regards to any financials. Sioux County Rescue is ran off of donations to the ambulance service and the revenue from doing transports. It is a volunteer non profit entity through the Village of Harrison.
This is not just an issue that is arising in Wyoming. What would happen if there wasn't EMS in your community, or in the next district over either? We are all getting to the point and having this tough discussion. It has came up a few times over the last couple years in our building.
~Sioux County Rescue and Harrison Volunteer Fire do however have the same volunteer team members, who strive to do the best they can every time the page goes out. Without the volunteer fire fighters we wouldn't have drivers, an extra set of hands, getting the landing zones set up, relaying radio traffic while EMTs are working, and sometimes just being another part of the team to help not only physically but emotionally for other team members.. they are always there to help with calls when Sioux County Rescue gets paged. Also many of the EMTs are volunteer firefighters in rural areas. One team just different roles.
So, what would happen in our rural communities if our EMS services start shutting down due to lack of funding?

The Rawhide Ranch Rodeo is proud to announce the distribution of $35,000 to support emergency services in southeastern Wyoming and western Nebraska. This year’s event raised funds through ticket sales, sponsorships, and community contributions, all of which have now been allocated to bolster the efforts of local volunteer fire departments and EMS teams.

Recipients of the 2025 Rawhide Ranch Rodeo donations include:

🔸 Lusk Volunteer Fire Department – $10,000

🔸 Lusk EMS – $10,000

🔸 Jay Em Fire Protection District  – $10,000

🔸 Harrison Volunteer Fire Department – $5,000

These funds will help purchase critical equipment, support training initiatives, and improve response capabilities in rural communities where emergency services are often stretched thin.

The Rawhide Ranch Rodeo strives to be a celebration of cowboy culture, community spirit, and rural resilience. This year’s event was the first ever, but the Rawhide Ranch Rodeo board only hopes to grow the event into tradition by turning entertainment into impact—bringing together rodeo fans, local businesses, and volunteers to support those who serve on the front lines.

The dates for next year's event have been set for July 24 and 25, 2026 - be sure to put it on your calendar and join us for another great weekend!
