1:34 pm Pumper 14 arrived on scene

3:08 pm Capps cleared scene

We would like to thank Harrison Fire, Alpena Fire, And North Ark emergency medical services for their assistance during this incident, also the neighbors that brought us water during the intense heat yesterday afternoon. It's great to see the community work together during emergency situations

The Capps-Batavia Fire Department is staffed entirely by volunteers who give their time and training to protect the lives and property of everyone in our district. We respond to fires, accidents, and emergencies, and we're always looking for dedicated people to stand alongside us.

We were paged at 11:02 pm Saturday night to a residence on Antique court for a microwave on fire. Upon arrival, the initial on-scene report stated that the residence was full of smoke and the cabinet top was smoldering, The fire was extinguished with a water extinguisher and a positive pressure fan was utilized to clear the residence of smoke. Cleared scene at 1:30 am

CHECK YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS!

Our recommendation is that you have at minimum of 2 detectors in your residence, don't rely on 1 detector to protect you and your family.

So you're probably wondering why we used the color orange for this hydrant. The National Fire Protection Association has guidelines for hydrant colors based on gallons per minute. So you'll be seeing red, orange, green and blue hydrants through the district. If you would like to help out the fire department, take a couple of minutes, w**d eat or mow around the hydrants.
