So you're probably wondering why we used the color orange for this hydrant. The National Fire Protection Association has guidelines for hydrant colors based on gallons per minute. So you'll be seeing red, orange, green and blue hydrants through the district. If you would like to help out the fire department, take a couple of minutes, w**d eat or mow around the hydrants.
Thanks

Something we don’t do everyday…
Today we received a call to rescue a kitten out of a tree. It turned out there were four kittens less than two weeks old stuck in the middle of a hollow tree about 6 feet down the middle of a fork in the tree. We rescued 3 but the fourth one was in a hole were we could hear him but not see him. We cut a wedge shape out of the tree to finally reach the last one. All four kittens are now happily resting with momma kitty.

2025 was a really busy year for the fire department, some of the terms you may not be familiar with are listed below.

MVA: Motor Vehicle Accidents
We are continuing to see an increase in these calls, Most of these MVA's on Hwy 65 occur between Ridgeway Loop and the Arkansas Welcome Ctr. ARDOT 2024 statistics state that approx 27,000 vehicles pass thru this section of hwy daily. Please pay close attention to vehicles entering along this section of highway. Hwy 392 is next with ARDOT 2024 statistics stating that 4500 to 7100 vehicles pass thru this section of highway daily. I provided these numbers so you can understand why traffic is delayed when we have MVA's on these roads. Working closely with the Arkansas State Police, we always make sure that we can move traffic safely thru the accident scene as soon as possible. The # 1 thing at any emergency scene is to reduce speed, this allows us time to stop traffic for ambulances, wrecker services while allowing the first responders to operate safely while standing in traffic

Mutual aide : these are calls where we assist neighboring departments with structure fires, brush fires, or water tanker support,

LZ : setting up a safe landing zone for emergency transport helicopters

Public service: power poles on fire or lines down, etc
