• They request payment in unusual ways, such as gift cards, cryptocurrency (Bitcoin), wire transfers, or cash left for a courier to pick up.er payment methods.
Scammers are skilled. They know how to sound convincing, create urgency, and pressure people into making quick decisions. Every day, people of all ages and backgrounds fall victim to scams because the criminals behind them are well-practiced and persuasive.
⚠️ Know the Warning Signs of a Scam:
• The caller, texter, or email sender makes the matter seem urgent.
• They claim there is a serious problem that you should already have known about if it were legitimate.
• They tell you not to discuss the matter with family, friends, your bank, or law enforcement.
• They request payment in unusual ways such as gift cards, cryptocurrency (Bitcoin), wire transfers, or cash left for a courier to pick up.
• They ask “verification” questions to obtain personal or financial information.
• They sound professional, confident, and prepared because they have rehearsed their script.

• Don’t answer calls from unknown numbers. Let them go to voicemail.
• Verify any claimed problem by contacting the organization directly using a phone number from a statement, official website, or other trusted source.
• Never provide personal information, passwords, PINs, or account numbers to someone who contacts you unexpectedly.
• Be suspicious of anyone demanding immediate payment or threatening consequences if you do not act right away.
• Talk to a trusted friend, family member, financial institution, or law enforcement if something doesn’t seem right.
• Remember: legitimate businesses and government agencies will not demand payment through gift cards, cryptocurrency, or cash pickups.
