Honoring Bravery Under Fire – December 21, 2025

Last night, members of the Harrison Fire Department FMBA local 22 stood shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters from the Kearny Fire Department, FMBA Locals 18 & 218,

The following is a repost from Kearny FMBA about the incident

Firefighters operated at a rapidly advancing structure fire that extended from the first to second floor of a row home—within an active law enforcement hot zone involving a barricaded suspect. Under police protection, crews pushed in to stop fire extension to occupied exposures, working in extreme conditions without anything more than standard firefighting PPE.

During the operation, a Kearny Captain was struck and knocked down inside the structure. In a decisive act of bravery, a firefighter made entry under heavy fire and removed the Captain to safety—an action that defines the brotherhood of the fire service.

This recognition reflects the courage, teamwork, and professionalism displayed by all involved. We commend the members of Kearny FD, Harrison FD, and Belleville FD for their outstanding service.
