🦸Turns out, our community has a LOT of superheroes. 🦸‍♀️

And Tools For School was a pretty great reminder of that.

Were compiling the Tools For School impact numbers and check out what our community did together! 💖

Thanks to the back-to-school superheroes across Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, 462 families were served through this year’s Tools For School. 🎒

But here’s the number that really makes us stop and smile:

Since Tools For School began in 2023, 2,228 households have been served.
That’s 2,228 households who felt the power of a community!

And Tools For School is just one example of what happens when we connect people, resources and ideas around the challenges facing our neighbors.

At United Way of Central Shenandoah Valley, we believe meaningful change doesn’t happen because of one person or one organization. It happens when we all have a role to play.

A volunteer.

A donor.

A business partner.

A neighbor.

Those individual actions add up to something much bigger.

That’s the work we’re committed to every day: connecting and mobilizing our community to improve lives. And we’re grateful to have so many superheroes alongside us.

🚌 School buses are back, folks!

This awesome community showed up for students with backpacks and school supplies at Tools For School two weeks ago. Now, we can show up for them in another really important way: keeping students safe as they travel to and from school.

So, be mindful of the rules of the road when it comes to school bus stops.

Tools For School let the world know we're a community that looks out for our children. Let’s make sure we’re looking out for them on the road, too. 🚌💙

🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️ Our community’s School Supply Superheroes showed up big at Tools For School! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Tools For School doesn’t happen because of one organization. It happens because this awesome community we call home shows up. ❤️

From sorting supplies and stuffing backpacks to greeting families, carrying boxes and doing all the behind-the-scenes work that makes a big event run smoothly, the volunteer superheroes answered the call. 💪📚🎒

And because of YOU, 2,002 stuffed backpacks made their way into the hands of local students at this year’s Tools For School event! That’s the largest number we’ve distributed in the four years we’ve held this event. 🤯🎉

To every volunteer who gave and hour or two or more — THANK YOU! 🥹❤️

Thanks to an incredible group of School Supply Superheroes, our fourth annual Tools For School event Saturday was our biggest yet!

🦸Huge thanks to our afternoon volunteer Back To School Superheroes from Pioneer Bank, Farmer Focus and LD&B Insurance and Financial Services who helped us get all set up for tomorrow's big day!

Let's go!

Thanks to all the Collections Zones and special shoutout to Rockingham County Courthouse, Clerk of Court Chaz W. Haywood, Farmer Focus, Nielsen Builders, Inc. and Riddleberger Brothers Inc. all of which not only had supplies, but provided pre-stuff backpacks!

Tomorrow morning, we'll give a monster shoutout to all the sponsors who make this awesome event happen. Until then, visions of 2,003 backpacks (A NEW TOOLS FOR SCHOOL RECORD!) will be swimming in all our heads.
