Master Firefighter Dustin Rice is participating in the Virginia Fire Officer Academy (VFOA) while Lieutenant Jared Quesenberry is participating in the Virginia Chief Officer Academy (VCOA). These programs help strengthen leadership skills, expand knowledge, and support continued excellence in serving our community.

Recently, members of the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad, Inc. and Harrisonburg Fire Department met with Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation Aquatics Program lifeguards to discuss how responders and lifeguards work together during medical emergencies at the pool.

The training gave lifeguards a chance to see the equipment carried on emergency vehicles, learn what happens when responders arrive, and ask questions about emergency operations and patient care.

❤️⚡ National CPR & AED Awareness Week is here!

From June 1–7, we recognize the importance of learning lifesaving skills that can make all the difference during a medical emergency.

When cardiac arrest strikes, every second matters. Knowing how to perform CPR and use an AED can help keep blood flowing and increase the chances of survival until professional responders arrive.

You don't have to be a healthcare professional to save a life—you just have to be prepared.

Throughout the school year our community risk reduction division teaches various topics to Harrisonburg City Public Schools 3rd and 6th graders. To celebrate all they have learned we host an end of the year firefighter day.
