Caroline worked with Mrs. Shull at Spotswood High School to set up a visit to Glenhaven Greenhouses earlier this month!
Students got to see a variety of plants and learn about how a greenhouse runs. They were excited to smell the herbs, look at all the different tomato and pepper plants, see the different color flower blooms, and then get their hands in the dirt and plant their own flowers to take home.
What a fun way to spend time doing some hands-on learning! 🌼

Mrs. Post's class at J. Frank Hillyard Middle School enjoyed learning about flowers and plant needs before planting their own pot of Marigolds to take home for Mother's Day earlier this month. 🌼

Thanks to Glenhaven Greenhouses for donating the flowers and supplies to make this happen.

Creative Chefs 4-H Club had a very special guest at their meeting this week! 👩‍🍳
Emmy-winning chef Tassie Pippert, a proud 4-H alumna, returned to the very club she once belonged to for a fun and educational program. Club members got hands-on experience during an exclusive pizza-making lesson, learning new cooking skills straight from a pro!
From kneading dough to adding their favorite toppings, it was a night full of learning, laughter, and delicious creations. Check out some of the highlights from this awesome meeting! 🍕

The Singers Glen 4-H Club decided to use some of their club funds to donate a vest to the Broadway Police Department K-9, Diablo. Chief Weaver, Officer Alger, and Diablo came in to thank the group and show them the new vest that they were able to purchase with the funds. It was obvious that Diablo is a big fan of his new vest!
What an awesome way to support the local community! 🍀

These 4-Hers picked up hammers during Spring Break and learned about woodworking with Broadway FFA teacher Herb Hoffeditz and FFA member Brian B.

🔨 With Mr. Hoffeditz's woodworking knowledge and guidance, Brian's patience and support, and Caroline's quick learning on the job, everyone made a toolbox and tic-tac-toe board to take home!

It’s been a fun and busy few months, and what a great way to wrap it up!

Rockingham County 4-H was excited to have our very first FIRST LEGO League Explore team, The Mini Lava Chickens, compete at the Regional Festival held at James Madison University.

Our Cloverbud members have spent the past few months learning all about archaeology—exploring dig sites, thinking about how discoveries are made, and building their own models to show what they’ve learned. They also got to try out some coding and bring their ideas to life using LEGO.

At the festival, The Mini Lava Chickens shared their project and talked through their work, and it was so fun to see their excitement and confidence. They did an awesome job representing Rockingham County 4-H!

We are so proud of this group for being part of our first Explore team. It’s been such a great experience, and we’re excited to keep growing this program! 🚀🐔🔥
