Week 1 of 4-H Summer Camp is officially underway. All St. John campers have made their beds, taken a swim test, gone on a tour of the camp grounds and now preparing for dinner, track selection and free time. We are looking forward to a good week!

NE Area Cookery Contest was held today in Winnsboro. Catahoula 4-H had one contestant and she earned a blue ribbon for her chili. She had a great time and made new friends! Congratulations Caelin!!!
Regional Leadership Board members Ainsley & Claire taught a lesson on “Garden in a Glove” and each participant went away with a “garden” and recipe for homemade salsa.

State Fair Validation Dates

The dates for Validating LA Bred Steers and Heifers are as follows below.

***Tags must be ordered in advance!***

Procedure to order tags - send $50 per calf to 4325 Hwy. 582, Oak Grove, LA 71263 to Mr. Vendal Fairchild’s attention.

Tag order forms can be printed from the State Fair of LA web page.

Both the cow and calf must be brought to the validation.

Dates and Locations:
Delhi Sale Barn – March 26, 2026 (10-12 pm)
Rosepine Research Station - Brian Galley – March 27, 2026 (10-12 pm)
LSU Baton Rouge – April 9, 2026 (10-12 pm)
R&R Cattle - Ron Springer, 1645 Keithville, LA 71047 – April 10, 2026 (10-12 pm)
LSU AgCenter – Dean Lee Research Station – April 25, 2026 (8-12 pm) *This (Dean Lee) will be the only Brand Commission certification this year.

**Veterinarians can also validate calves.**
