The Harrisonburg-Rockingham ECC is staffed with 52 employees and provides state of the art emergency and non-emergency communications services to the citizens of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, the public safety providers of the area, and those passing through. MISSION STATEMENT The Mission of the Harrisonburg - Rockingham Emergency Communications Center shall be to efficiently and professionally receive emergency calls and dispatch emergency services to protect the citizens of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, VA.
OBJECTIVES • Efficiently process emergency calls within one minute of reception; • Provide high quality communications through state of the art technology; • Constantly seek out ways to improve the quality of service provided to the community; • Facilitate the development of highly trained, proficient, dedicated and self-motivated personnel.

PUBLIC POSTING/COMMENTING: The HRECC must abide by certain standards to serve all customers in a civil and unbiased manner. Posts or comments on an ECC sanctioned media site containing any of the following inappropriate forms of content shall not be permitted and are subject to removal:
• Posts not related to the original topic
• Posts that are not factual or accurate • Posts that do not promote civil discussion
• Profane, obscene or pornographic content and/or language
• Content that could compromise any investigation by any agency
• Defamatory or personal attacks.
• Threats to any person or organization
• Posts/comments in support of, or in opposition to, any political campaigns or ballot measures.
• Solicitation of commerce, including, but not limited to, advertising of any business or product for sale.
• Conduct in violation of any federal, state or local law
• Encouragement of illegal activity
• Information that my tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems
• Content that violates a legal ownership interest, such as a copyright or trademark of any party.
A comment posted by a member of the public on any ECC social media web site is the opinion of the commentator or poster only, and the publication of a comment does not imply endorsement, or agreement by the HRECC, nor do such comments necessarily reflect the opinions or Guidelines of the ECC. The HRECC reserves the right to deny access to its social media for any individual who violates the HRECC social media policy, at any time, without prior notice. Complaints on ECC personnel shall not be reported on HRECC social media sites. If a complaint is made on an HRECC social media site it will be handled accordingly through existing complaint procedures but is subject to removal. However, if a complaint names an employee, or is particularly controversial or of a sensitive nature, the post will be automatically removed and forwarded to the ECC Director and Operations Team Managers.
The HRECC is committed to providing public education and continually working to improve the partnership with our community. Brochures and children's educational materials are available to the public.
