Please join us in congratulating the graduates of our 2026 EMT Academy!

Over the past several months, these students have dedicated countless hours to learning, growing, and preparing to serve others during some of life’s most challenging moments. Through hard work, determination, and a commitment to excellence, they have successfully completed the program and are ready to tackle the National Registry Exam.

We are incredibly proud of each graduate and grateful to our instructors, preceptors, and everyone who helped make this academy a success.

HAPPENING TODAY: It's the first Wednesday in July and that means we will be conducting our monthly storm-siren test.
Storm sirens in will be tested at 1 p.m. All tests are weather permitting.

In addition to emergency response, the Fire Department provides important education and prevention services throughout the city, including CPR training, fire safety training, and community outreach programs designed to help residents and businesses stay prepared.

The department also conducts business inspections as required by law, helping ensure local facilities meet important fire and life safety standards. In addition, home inspections may be available to help residents identify potential safety concerns and improve fire prevention at home.

Providing reliable fire and emergency response services requires much more than having firefighters on duty. It includes maintaining fire trucks and equipment, purchasing protective gear, supporting ongoing training, meeting safety standards, and keeping facilities and emergency response tools ready for use at all times.
These investments are essential to ensuring the Fire Department can respond quickly, safely, and effectively when our community needs them.

During Monday's Board of Aldermen meeting, Mayor Zaring recognized Rose Smith for her 25 years of dedicated service to the Fire Department and the City of Harrisonville!

Rose handles billing and accounts payable for the Fire Department, assisting those who need EMS care, handling the neverending challenges presented by insurance companies, and working to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the reports taken by our staff after each call.
During her 25 years, Rose has evaluated over 75,000 individual reports! The day-to-day operations of the Harrisonville Fire Department would not be possible without her.

Congratulations Rose! We are grateful for all that you do, both for our staff and for the entire Harrisonville community.
