Heart Athlete of the Week, Senior Maddie Eggers, Tennis
Maddie Eggers has been a spirit leader for the girls' tennis team all fall. The skills that these girls have are acquired over a period of time, but the emotional, positive, and confidence necessary to translate these skills into match success have been promoted by Maddie prior to every event we have played this fall. It has been 5 years since the girls have won the district tournament and advanced to the sectional round. On Wednesday, in a very tight match against a strong Bolivar team, Maddie fought hard, but dropped the first set 2 - 6. Recognizing that the team needed every possible match to advance, she made a couple of technical adjustments to her game and, with the resolve to certainly contribute her part, she completely dominated the second set 6 - 0. Now needing to win a 3rd set tie-break (10-point game), she maintained her focus on every point and was able to secure the team point with a match win of 2-6, 6-0, 10 - 3!

A massive shoutout to our Youth Football players for bringing the energy, heart, and hustle to the field, and to our Cheer Mini Clinic participants for lighting up the sidelines with the biggest smiles and best spirit! 📣💙

Seeing the next generation of athletes learning, playing, and cheering alongside our high school teams reminds us what game days are truly all about. The future of our program is looking bright! 🌟

Last week's Heart Athlete of the Week is Tyler Ritter.

Coach Brian Bliss said,

"Tyler is a freshman on the team this year who joined a bit later than everyone else. I would like to nominate him for HEART this week because he gives 100% effort every day at practice without complaint and is very encouraging to ALL of his teammates during practice and meets. Also, he just recently completed his first-ever 5K race!"
